Hudhayfah Samir Abdullah al-Kahlout, known as Abu Ubaydah, is a Palestineian fighter and the spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas. He always appears with a keffiyeh covering his face. Precise information regarding his biography is not available.
Media Presence
One of the leaders of the Zionist regime stated: Abu Ubaydah "does not appear and will not appear in the media" and only a limited number of people are aware of his identity. He first appeared in the media in 2006 CE, announcing the news of the capture of the Israeli soldier "Gilad Shalit". If you search for the name "Abu Ubaydah", it provides you with 2.5 million results, of which about 50,000 links are his video films. This major media presence, yet without any clear image, location, or activity, has confused the Zionists.
Statements
In June 2020 CE, in response to the plans of Israeli leaders to formally annex parts of the West Bank, he said: that "the resistance forces will honestly protect the people of Palestine" and promised to "force the enemy to bite its fingers in regret for such a sinful decision". He described Israel's plans as a "declaration of war".
During the escalation of the Palestine and Israel conflict in 2021 CE, Abu Ubaydah said: that attacking Tel Aviv, Dimona, Ashdod, Ascalon, and Beersheba "was as easy as drinking water for us" and announced that "there are no red lines in responding to Israeli aggression". After the ceasefire agreement, he said: "With the help of God, we were able to humiliate the enemy, its fragile institution, and its savage army".
In September 2021 CE, after four of the six escapees from Gilboa prison were captured by Israeli forces, Abu Ubaydah announced that no prisoner exchange with Israel would take place in the future without the liberation of the escapees and said: "If the heroes have freed themselves through the freedom tunnel. This time, from underground to them and our freed prisoners, we promise that soon, God willing, they will be liberated from above ground".
In May 2022 CE, Abu Ubaydah, in response to Israel's attempt to assassinate Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, following several Palestinian attacks on Israelis, said that if the "enemy and its defeated leadership" harms Sinwar, it will create "a regional earthquake and an unprecedented response".
In June 2022 CE, Abu Ubaydah announced that the medical condition of one of the Israeli prisoners in Gaza had deteriorated. The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades later released a video showing that the prisoner in question was Hisham al-Sayed.
Gaza War Statements
The newspaper Ra'y al-Yawm wrote: The media battle and documentation of war scenes executed by the Qassam Brigades in the Gaza War has been like a technical and field confrontation and has succeeded in countering the psychological war of the Israeli regime[1]. This psychological war is mostly created by the statements of the spokesman of the Qassam Brigades.
Abu Ubaydah announced: We have captured a very large number of enemy forces[2].
Abu Ubaydah expressed that Qassam's communication with the groups tasked with holding Zionist prisoners has been cut off, and the fate of these prisoners and the groups responsible for holding them is shrouded in ambiguity. On the other hand, Qassam Brigades fighters managed to trap the infantry of the Zionist regime army in their ambush in the southwest of the Gaza Strip and detonate an anti-personnel bomb among the Zionist soldiers. The Qassam spokesman announced: Resistance fighters have destroyed 17 Zionist enemy weapons on the axes of Zionist infiltration into the Gaza Strip, either completely or partially, from this morning (17 November 2023 CE) until now[3].
Characteristics
Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, always appears before cameras and media in military attire and a red keffiyeh covering his face. However, during the recent Gaza war, the Zionist regime hacked the Al-Aqsa network while broadcasting one of his speeches, displaying his real image and full name as a subtitle, which surprised everyone. This action by the Zionist regime is considered a psychological war against Hamas; but if we examine the issue further, we realize this fake regime's counterattack against Hamas's psychological war.
At the beginning of his tenure as spokesperson for the Qassam Brigades in 2005, when the Zionist regime withdrew from the Gaza Strip, he was a 30-year-old youth. Prior to this, he was one of the field commanders of the Qassam Brigades and had been on the Zionist regime's assassination list from the early days.
Last year, he completed his master's studies at the Faculty of Usul al-Din at the Islamic University of Gaza, defending his thesis titled "The Holy Land Between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam". He can currently be considered the main artery of Hamas's psychological war, and mentioning a few points in this regard is necessary:
Showing Abu Ubaida's image, suddenly on the Al-Aqsa network affiliated with the Hamas movement, is a tactical action within the framework of psychological war between the Qassam Brigades and Tel Aviv. Several times during this war and recent wars, through his speeches and conferences, he has neutralized the threats of the Zionist regime. This very issue has angered the Zionist regime officials, leading them to hack and cut off Palestinian satellite networks, including the Al-Aqsa network, during the Gaza War; because these networks continuously show Abu Ubaida and his speeches.
In addition to neutralizing Zionist threats with his speeches, he also threatens the Zionist regime with his compelling words. This same issue has caused his fame inside and outside the land of Palestine.
He always ends his speeches with a phrase that brings a sense of calm to Palestinians and fear, anger, and distress to Zionists. This phrase is: "إنه لجهاد نصر أو استشهاد" (The end of this jihad is either victory or martyrdom). This confirms that in either case, victory is for the Palestinians.
He insists on wearing a red keffiyeh and keeping his face unrecognized, like the martyr Emad Aql, one of the founders of the Qassam Brigades, and this is exactly the opposite of Abu Ahmed, spokesperson for the Al-Quds Brigades (military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement), and Abu Mujahid, spokesperson for the Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades (military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees), who do not cover their faces.
The army of the Zionist regime targeted Abu Ubaida's home during the 22-day war in 2008 AD but failed to assassinate him. In the 2023 Gaza War, Abu Ubaida's paternal home was also targeted; but no news has been broadcast yet regarding the bombing of his home. This issue has also angered the Zionist regime severely.
Abu Ubaida's media appearance as the military spokesperson for Hamas and his strong presence and firm speeches recently attracted everyone's attention, such that some families in Turkey named their children "Abu Ubaida". Turan Kislakci, a Turkish writer, told Quds Press: Abu Ubaida has become a hero in Turkey, and many women in this country, including the wife of a famous Turkish director, expressed a desire to have a son and choose the name Abu Ubaida for him. He added: Turkish secularists have also compared Abu Ubaida to "Che Guevara", the commander of communist resistance in Latin America, and some, based on their ethnicity, have named themselves Turkish Abu Ubaida, Kurdish Abu Ubaida, or Circassian Abu Ubaida. The spokesperson of the Qassam Brigades conquered the hearts of believers in the Palestine issue, and despite all the crimes and massacres by the occupiers in the Gaza Strip, his speeches gave people new hope.
Abu Ubaida is the link between the Qassam Brigades' command council and the media and people; a link that connects with important decision-makers such as Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa, and Raed al-Attar, who are on the Zionist regime's assassination list.
If you search for "Abu Ubaida" in the Google search engine, it provides you with 2.5 million results, about 50,000 links of which are his video films. This large media appearance but without any clear image, location, and activity has confused the Zionists.
