Tareq Ezzedeen was the head of the media office and spokesman for the Islamic Jihad Movement in the West Bank, and one of the military operations leaders of the Al-Quds Brigades in the West Bank. He was arrested in 2001 due to his activities in the First Intifada, participation in suicide operations, and presence in the battle to defend the Jenin camp. He was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 10 years and 8 months. He was released in the Wafa al-Ahrar deal in 2011 while suffering from leukemia. Biography

Tareq Ibrahim Ezzedeen was born on 14 September 1974 in the town of Arrabah in the Jenin Governorate in the West Bank. He was married and had three sons and two daughters.

Education

He completed his primary and secondary education in the town of Arrabah. He obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from a university while imprisoned in occupying prisons, and later obtained a master's degree.

Activities

Ezzedeen was involved in national resistance from an early age and was among those who participated in the activities of the First Intifada. He joined the Islamic Jihad Movement and participated in its national activities, later joining its military branch.

Collaboration in Suicide Operations

He participated in a suicide operation carried out by Ola al-Tabaa and Usama Darwish on 25 May 2001, in revenge for the assassination of Iyad Hardan, one of the leaders of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military branch of Islamic Jihad.

Full responsibility for this crime and its dangerous consequences lies with the enemy Zionist occupier. We emphasize again that the crimes of this regime against the residents of Gaza, West Bank, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque will never bring security for it and cannot achieve its sinister goals and this regime will pay a very heavy price".
