Fadel Dolan al-Ani is one of the figures and activists associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Ani is a city in Al Anbar Governorate. He was born in Fallujah in 1931 AD[1] and completed his elementary and secondary education in Fallujah.

Activities

He attended law school and obtained a law degree in Baghdad. He pursued studies in Fiqh and religious sciences. Initially, he worked as a lawyer in Fallujah, and subsequently in Baghdad. He was an individual with a distinguished legal record, working as a judge and advisor in the country's Consultative Council. He also held membership in the Iraq Red Crescent Society.

Missionary Activities

While he was at the College of Law in Baghdad, Sheikh Mohammed Mahmoud Sawaf returned from Al-Azhar and was appointed as a professor at the College of Sharia, Baghdad. Arab governments were surprised by a revolution unlike any other revolution; this was the first time Iraqis saw a Sheikh leading demonstrations and sermons, collecting financial aid, and even managing volunteers to go to Palestine. In his youth, he was interested in the Muslim Brotherhood and participated in Brotherhood activities upon their invitation. The Fallujah brigade had missionary activities that had a significant impact on society and among the youth.

Founding of the Islamic Party

He was one of the founders of the Islamic Party of Iraq, which was established on the night of 27 Ramadan 1380 AH, in mid-Esfand of the year 1960 AD, by the Muslim Brotherhood in Iraq. For the selection of the Central Committee (Political Office) of the Islamic Party of Iraq, Mr. Numan Abdulrazzaq al-Samarrai was chosen for party leadership, Sheikh Ibrahim Munir al-Mudarris as Vice President, and Mr. Falih Hassan as a member.

Arrest and Detention

He was detained for five months along with members of the Central Committee of the Islamic Party of Iraq and was interrogated after the publication of the party's bold note in the Al-Mahdawi Court building. A newspaper containing a copy was delivered to Abdul Karim Qasim (then Prime Minister of Iraq). It was like a revolution against power, describing abnormal conditions and expressing criticisms of government policies, the Personal Status Law, and the Inheritance Law, which established equality between women and men in inheritance. It also addressed Islamic Sharia and the massacres that were carried out in Mosul and Kirkuk during his reign, and in it, he asked the country's President to resign from power due to irresponsibility.

Closure of the Islamic Party

Given the abnormal bad conditions prevailing in Iraq at that time, the party faced harassment and obstruction by officials, who limited its freedom compared to other parties. Consequently, the party was closed after six months.
