Abd al-Hayy Mursi, known as Colonel Mursi, was the Deputy of the Gaza Relief and Rescue Organization. He was killed along with four members of his family on Sunday, 8 September 2024 CE (18 Shahrivar 1403 SH), in an attack by Israeli warplanes on his house near the al-Dawla intersection in the al-Zaytun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City. Mursi had been active in the Gaza Relief and Rescue Organization in Gaza urban defense services and also the country of Palestine since 1995 CE.

Death
Muhammad Abd al-Hayy Mursi was killed in the early hours of Sunday, 8 September 2024 CE (18 Shahrivar 1403 SH), as a result of an attack by Israeli warplanes near the al-Dawla intersection in the al-Zaytun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City on his house, along with his mother, Munir Muhammad Mursi, Hussam Muhammad Mursi, and Baha Ahmad Mursi, and a number of his family members were also injured in this attack[1].
Reactions
The Gaza Civil Defense Service issued a statement mourning Colonel Mursi and noted that he had been serving his country and people since 1995 CE and was killed while at the head of his work. The statement stated: We ask God to place him among the martyrs. The spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense Service said: The number of martyrs of the Civil Defense Service has reached 83 martyrs and more than 200 injured. The spokesman noted: The Civil Defense Service continues to suffer from a lack of relief and rescue equipment and a lack of fuel and spare parts needed to protect life and property[2].
