Ahmad Atiyah Bahr (born 1949) is from the city of Gaza, Palestine. In 1989, he was detained for two years by the military of the Zionist regime. He served as the Acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council. During the Israel–Hamas war in Gaza, he was martyred on 17 November 2023.


Biography

He was born in 1949 in the city of Gaza, Palestine. After marriage, he became the father of thirteen sons and daughters. He holds a PhD in Arabic language. He was active in the field of the Quran, including founding the House of the Quran and Sunnah in the Gaza Strip between 1971 and 1974.

Martyrdom

Ultimately, during the Israel–Hamas war in Gaza, he was martyred on 17 November 2023.


Message from the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, issued a message addressed to Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), offering condolences and congratulations to the entire Islamic Ummah on the martyrdom of the pious mujahid, Hajj Ahmad Bahr, Acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, at the hands of the bloodthirsty Zionist regime. He wrote: "The apartheid and temporary Zionist regime, by committing these crimes, has only revealed its vile nature and will make the free people of the world even more aware of the oppression suffered by the Palestinean people, demonstrating once again that it has no regard whatsoever for the principles and rules of international law." He added: "Undoubtedly, the blood of the Palestinian martyrs will further strengthen the resolve of the oppressed and resilient Palestinian people against the aggressive nature of this usurping regime and their steadfastness in liberating their land from the stain of the occupiers' presence. I ask Almighty God to grant patience to the family of the deceased and steadfastness and victory over the Zionist enemy to the Palestinian people."[1]
