Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah was the leader of the Islamic Resistance Front in Lebanon and the third Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon following the assassination of the martyr Sayyid Abbas Musawi by Israeli military forces in 1992 CE. He is considered one of the popular and prominent figures of the Islamic World in the struggle against the occupying regime of Jerusalem. He considered himself a follower of the thought and practice of the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei). Among the fundamental principles of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah's thought and behavior were the defense and pursuit of the Unity of the Islamic Ummah and the creation of a new Islamic civilization in the Islamic World. After years of effort and struggle in the Axis of Resistance and the cause of Holy Jerusalem, he was finally martyred along with a number of Axis of Resistance commanders in an attack by warplanes of the Zionist regime on the evening of Friday, September 27, 2024 CE, corresponding to 6 Mehr 1403 SH, on the residential neighborhoods of the Haret Hreik area in the Dahieh of Beirut.

Biography

Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah was born in 1960 CE, in the town of Al-Bazouriyah, located 10 kilometers east of Beirut.

Due to economic pressures in southern Lebanon, he migrated to Beirut with his family and settled in the Karantina neighborhood on the outskirts of the capital.

He says: "In childhood, he would wrap his grandmother's long black scarf around his head and tell those present, 'I am a cleric, pray behind me'." Nasrallah's personality was formed in the Karantina neighborhood. In his adolescence, he worked in his father's fruit shop. Unlike his friends who always went to football fields and tourist beaches of Beirut, Sayyid would go to areas adjacent to Karantina, such as Al-Nabaa, San Fil, and Burj Hammoud, to utilize the spiritual atmosphere of their Mosques.

Education

Sayyid Hassan had a great interest in studying from childhood and conducted extensive studies in the field of Religion. He completed his elementary education at Al-Najah and San Fil neighborhood schools and, coinciding with the Lebanon civil wars, returned with his family to Bazouriyah, his birthplace, and completed his high school period in the city of Tyre. He continued his studies in Najaf under Musawi and Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and completed the preliminaries in 1978. During this period, widespread political and security developments occurred in Iraq. In these developments, seminary students of the Najaf seminary were constantly under pursuit. Lebanese seminary students also faced various accusations during this period, including cooperation with the Islamic Dawa Party, cooperation with the Amal Movement in Lebanon, or connection with the Ba'ath Party ruling over Syria.

Activities

Marxist leftist and communist movements were very active in Al-Bazouriyah during that period; however, he joined the Islamic Amal Movement, which Imam Musa Sadr had established in Lebanon. It did not take long before Sayyid Hassan expanded his political activities as the representative of Amal in Al-Bazouriyah. He met a cleric and teacher of religious sciences named Sayyid Muhammad al-Gharawi in the Sadr Mosque of Tyre city and, with his help, went to Najaf to continue his seminary studies. There, he sought Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, but he was introduced to a person named Sayyid Abbas Musawi, and in his first meeting with Musawi, at the beginning of the conversation, he tried to avoid the Lebanese accent and started speaking in Classical Arabic.

Nasrallah returned to Lebanon due to existing pressures in Iraq and engaged in study and teaching at the Baalbek Seminary. Alongside seminary studies, Sayyid did not neglect military training and completed various guerrilla courses. Due to his ability in management and command, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah was appointed as the representative of the Amal Movement in the Beqaa Valley. In 1982, with the beginning of the occupation of Lebanon, the Amal Movement was divided into 2 factions: the first faction, led by Nabih Berri, wanted the movement's forces to be placed alongside the National Salvation Front, and the second faction, led by Sayyid Abbas Musawi and Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, demanded preserving the principled Shia forces and organizing them to confront the Israeli occupiers.

The most important reason for the principled Shia forces not joining the National Salvation Front forces was the existence of a personality like Bashir Gemayel. Because Bashir Gemayel, along with his relations with the Zionist regime, was seeking the presidency of Lebanon. From here, the initial nuclei of Hezbollah were formed, and with the attachment of principled forces to the new organization, this organization made its presence felt in the political-military structure of Lebanon. At the beginning of the formation of Hezbollah, Sayyid Hassan was 22 years old and worked as a propaganda force to attract Shia youth to join the party. After a while, he assumed responsibility as the deputy of the party office in Beirut alongside Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyid, until the executive deputy of the party, which was created to implement the resolutions of the Hezbollah Central Council, was established. Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah was employed as the executive deputy of the party at this time. Afterwards, he went to Qom to continue seminary studies and after a while, due to tense differences between the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, he returned to Lebanon again.

Struggle Against Israel

Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah adopted an aggressive stance against Israel from the very beginning of his leadership of Hezbollah Lebanon. One year after his secretary-generalship in Hezbollah in 1993 CE, 26 Israeli soldiers were killed by Hezbollah in the conflict between the parties. Hezbollah's war against Israel continued to push Israel out of southern Lebanon. The number of killed Israeli soldiers reached 40 in 1997 CE. With conditions becoming difficult, Israel was forced to leave Lebanese territory in 2000 CE. Hezbollah's victory in expelling Israel from southern Lebanon and the killing of his son Sayyid Hadi in the war in 1997 CE contributed to Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah's popularity in southern Lebanon.

Due to these same threats, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah has appeared less in public in recent years, and a 150-member protection team is responsible for his security. This protection team was established by عماد مغنیه. And now Abu Ali Jawad is responsible for this team. He, who is Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah's son-in-law and is known as the Sayyid's Shield, has undergone multiple and complex military courses in Iran.

Secretary-General of Hezbollah

In 1992 CE, Sayyid Abbas Musavi, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon and Sayyid Hassan's teacher, was assassinated by Zionists. With Nasrallah's arrival at the helm of the party, the Shia organization of Lebanon went beyond the circle of defensive and security-military affairs and defined a new sphere for Hezbollah's presence in Lebanon's political structure. Such that in the Lebanese parliamentary elections in the years 1996, 2000, and 2005 CE, the presence of Hezbollah movement representatives in the parliament has always increased.

The significant victory of Hezbollah led by Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and the expulsion of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in the year 2000 CE will never be forgotten.

Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, after صبحی طفیلی and Sayyid Abbas Musavi, is the third Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon and is always considered one of the main targets of the intelligence and terrorist services of the رژیم صهیونیستی. In 1997 CE, he lost his eldest son Sayyid Hadi in confrontation with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

Martyrdom

Hamas

Hamas stated in this statement: The martyrdom of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and a group of his commander brothers who were martyred in the Al-Aqsa Flood battle and the Jerusalem path and support for the people of Palestine and its heroic resistance in confronting the enemy Zionist, we offer condolences to the Palestinian nation, the Arab and Islamic Ummah, and the free people of the world and sincerely declare our sympathy and solidarity with the brotherly people of Lebanon and the brothers of Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon.

Hamas also strongly condemned the savage attack of the Zionist regime on residential buildings in Haret Hreik in the southern suburb of Beirut, adding: This is a cowardly terrorist action and a heinous crime that once again proved the savagery and bloodthirstiness of this regime, a regime that tramples on all values, norms and international treaties and openly threatens global security and peace under the shadow of international silence and inability.

The Hamas movement also emphasized: With full pride and honor, we recall the life and path full of sacrifice of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah in the liberation of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, his honorable positions in support of the people of Palestine and its heroic resistance and its legitimate rights, and also his insistence on continuing the heroic support front for the Palestinian people and its resistance in the Al-Aqsa Flood battle. He continued to support the Palestinian people and its heroic resistance despite all major challenges until he was martyred.

The statement stated that the Zionist regime is fully responsible for this savage crime and its dangerous consequences for the security and stability of the region; just as the Government of the America is also responsible for political, diplomatic, military, security and intelligence support for this regime and also responsible for silence and shirking from stopping the increasing Zionist terrorism against the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon.

Hamas also emphasized its absolute solidarity and standing alongside the brothers of Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance of Lebanon who participated in the Al-Aqsa Flood battle and the defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the Hamas statement, also noting that the pure blood of the Lebanese martyrs is mixed with the blood of the caravan of martyrs of the Gaza Strip and West Bank, it emphasized that the blood of these martyrs will cling to the Zionist enemy.

Hamas added: History has proven that whenever one of the resistance leaders is martyred, a generation of brave, stronger, and more determined leaders succeeds him to confront the Zionist enemy, until the enemy is destroyed and expelled from our land and region. We are certain that all these crimes and assassinations by the occupying regime will only increase the resistance's insistence and determination to continue the path of the martyrs, remain loyal to their sacrifices, and persist in the path of resistance and steadfastness until victory and the destruction of the occupiers.

Hamas emphasized that "We believe and are certain that this crime and other crimes and assassinations by the Zionist regime will do nothing but strengthen the resolve and will of the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine to continue the path of the martyrs, remain loyal to their blood, continue the path and plans, and sustain the path of resistance with power, valor, and greatness, as well as steadfastness until the realization of victory and the expulsion of the occupiers."

Islamic Jihad

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement also offered condolences to the nations of Lebanon and Palestine and the Arab Ummah on the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in the vindictive assassination operation by the Zionist regime last Friday, during which the main headquarters of Hezbollah in the Southern Suburb of Beirut was bombed. This movement, in a press statement, noted that "We received the bitter and painful news of the tragic loss of the martyrdom of a prominent resistance, Arab, and Islamic figure who was stepping towards the victory of the Ummah with utmost regret and sorrow, but at the same time, we are proud of his blessed legacy in training tens of thousands of fighters, forces, and fellow leaders in the path of martyrdom and Palestine." The movement noted that resistance groups in Lebanon, Palestine, and throughout the region will exact the price of these crimes from the enemy and sooner or later will impose a bitter defeat upon it in response to these evils.

Popular Front

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also offered condolences to various segments of the Palestinian nation, the Ummah, the Resistance Axis, and the liberation movement on the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah "Abu Hadi", Secretary-General of the Hezbollah Movement in Lebanon, and a number of his comrades in the cowardly assassination crime by the Zionist regime in the Southern Suburb of Beirut, which was carried out with coordination and collusion with the criminal American enemy. Dear people of Iran, Great Islamic Ummah

The great mujahid, standard-bearer of resistance in the region, virtuous religious scholar, and prudent political leader, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, may Allah be pleased with him, attained the grace of martyrdom in last night's incidents in Lebanon and flew to the celestial realm. The dear Sayyid of Resistance received the reward for decades of jihad in the way of Allah and its hardships during a holy struggle. He was Martyred while engaged in planning for the defense of the helpless people of Dahiya, Beirut, and their destroyed homes and lost loved ones, just as he had planned, managed, and struggled for decades to defend the oppressed people of Palestine, their usurped cities and villages, destroyed homes, and massacred loved ones. The grace of martyrdom after all this struggle was his legitimate right.

The Islamic World has lost a great personality; and the Resistance Front has lost a prominent standard-bearer, and Hezbollah Lebanon has lost an unparalleled leader, but the blessings of his decades of prudence and jihad will never be lost. The foundation he established in Lebanon and directed towards other resistance centers will not only not disappear with his absence, but by the blessing of his blood and the blood of other martyrs of this incident, it will gain more strength. The blows of the Resistance Front on the worn-out and declining body of the Zionist Regime, by the will and power of Allah, will be more crushing. The vile essence of the Zionist regime has not achieved victory in this incident.

The Sayyid of Resistance was not a person, he was a path and a school, and this path will continue. The blood of the Martyr Sayyid Abbas Musawi was not left on the ground, the blood of Martyr Sayyid Hassan will not be left on the ground either.

The terrorist attack on the evening of 6 Mehr by the Zionists on Dahiya and the loss of prominent figures of the Resistance, headed by the eternal leader of Hezbollah, Martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, will make the good tree of Resistance more stable than ever, and the name "Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah" will shine forever in the firmament of Islam. We have learned this way that command belongs to Allah. The divine path never remains without a commander and leader, and this earth will be inherited by the righteous servants of Allah. The global community will not forget that the command for this terrorist attack was issued from New York, and Americans cannot absolve themselves of complicity with the Zionists. The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Sistani, the high religious authority in Najaf Ashraf, offered condolences in a statement for the martyrdom of Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of the Hezbollah movement. In this statement it was said: We received the news of the martyrdom of the Allamah Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimin Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah with complete regret and sorrow, this great martyr was an example of a unique leader in recent decades, Sayyid Nasrallah helped the Iraqis with all his might in liberating their country from terrorists. The Sayyid of the Resistance Front, the learned scholar and steadfast mujahid, Honorable Mr. Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (may God have mercy on him), the great commander of the front of Right against Falsehood and the firm pillar of the Axis of Resistance, has become immortal and etched the honor and triumph of Islam against disbelief into history. In his absence, it is befitting to weep blood and don the garments of mourning while wailing; he was a solace who had taken away the unrest of many, and this very characteristic of his caused the sacrifice and devotion of his companions. The criminal Zionist band should know that his companions will continue their lively resistance and will keep the flag of his school raised.
