Ithniniyya

Ithniniyya are a group who hold exaggerated beliefs regarding Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and Imam Ali (alayhi al-salam).
Beliefs
Followers of this sect consider Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and Imam Ali (alayhi al-salam) to be God. They are divided into two categories: some prioritize the divinity of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and are called "Mimiyya", and some prioritize the divinity of Ali (alayhi al-salam) and are known as "Ayniyya"[1]. In another explanation, it is stated that in the view of Ithniniyya, Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and Imam Ali (alayhi al-salam) are both God, and they split into two groups. Some prioritized and preferred the divinity of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi), and a group considered the divinity of Imam Ali (alayhi al-salam) to be dominant and strong, and these are among the Ghulat and blameworthy sects who turned away from the service of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and asserted the partnership of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa alihi) and Imam Ali (alayhi al-salam) in divinity[2].
