Ayatollah Sayyid Mujtaba Hosseini Khamenei is the second son of the Martyr Imam who was born in Mashhad in September 1969. He completed his elementary and secondary education in Mashhad and Tehran. For the first time at the age of 17 during his school years, he wore combat attire and headed to the fronts of truth against falsehood. During his combatancy, under the name Sayyid Mustafa Hosseini and as an unknown Basiji, he was present in the Muhammad Rasulullah (PBUH) and Sayyid al-Shuhada (PBUH) divisions, and except for some commanders, no one understood that he was the son of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He participated in several operations including Beit ol-Moqaddas 2, 3, and 4, Valfajr 10, and Operation Mersad, and according to the acknowledgment of commanders including General Delavar and veteran Ali Fazli, the then commander of the Hazrat Sayyid al-Shuhada Division, he was one of the brave, risk-taking, and very unassuming individuals.

Political Dimension of the New Revolution Leader's Personality

Like many other clerics, he was among those who had an independent political personality and did not join any political party or group, but he is a person knowledgeable about politics and among those with political insight, and for this reason, as a sincere assistant and advisor, friend and companion of his martyred parent, he learned the method of leadership and guiding the Islamic Ummah alongside his father. First message of His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Peace be upon you, O Vicegerent of Allah and helper of His truth. Peace be upon you, O Proof of Allah and guide of His will. Peace be upon you, O hoped-for precursor. Peace be upon you with comprehensive peace. Peace be upon you, O my Master, the Owner of Time.

At the outset, I must offer condolences to my master (May Allah hasten his reappearance) on the occasion of the heart-rending martyrdom of the great Supreme Leader of the Revolution, the dear and wise Khamenei, and request from His Eminence good prayers for each and every individual of the great nation of Iran, and rather all Muslims of the world, and all servants of Islam and the Revolution, and the self-sacrificers and survivors of the martyrs of the Islamic Movement, and especially the recent war, and for myself, the humble one.

The second part of my speech is with the great nation of Iran. Initially, I must briefly state my status and position regarding the vote of the Honorable Assembly of Experts. I, your servant Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, became aware of the result of the vote of the Honorable Assembly of Experts simultaneously with you and through the Islamic Republic Broadcasting. For me, leaning on the place where two great leaders, Khomeini the Great and the Martyred Khamenei sat, is a difficult task; because this seat has the history of sitting of someone who, after more than sixty years of struggle in the way of God and passing up various pleasures and comforts, became a radiant gem and a distinguished figure, not only in the present era, but throughout the history of the rulers of this country. Both his life and the manner of his death were kneaded with glory and honor stemming from reliance on the Truth.

I had the opportunity to visit his body after martyrdom; what I saw was a mountain of steadfastness; and I heard that he had clenched the fist of his healthy hand. Regarding the various aspects of his personality, those who are informed should speak for a long time. In this opportunity, I suffice with this summary and leave the details to other appropriate occasions. This is the reason for the difficulty of leaning on the leadership seat after such a person. Completing this gap is only possible with help from His Holiness God and your help, O people.

Continuing, it is necessary to emphasize a point that is directly related to the essence of my speech; that point is this: that among the arts of the Martyred Leader and his great predecessor was bringing people into all arenas and giving them continuous insight and awareness, and in practice relying on their power. He actualized the true meaning of Republic and Republic-ness in this way and believed in it from the depths of his soul. The clear effect of this matter was seen in these few days that the country was without a leader and without a commander-in-chief. The insight and wisdom of the great nation of Iran in the recent incident and its steadfastness and courage and presence, caused admiration in friends and astonishment in enemies. It was you people who led the country and guaranteed its authority.

The verse that I brought at the head of this writing means that there is no verse from the divine verses that either its time expires or it is forgotten, except that from the side of His Holiness God (Glory be to Him), a similar or better one is put in its place. The appropriateness of using this noble verse is not that this humble one is at the level of the Martyred Leader; let alone that I want to be assumed superior to him; rather the direction of mentioning the blessed verse is drawing attention to the proper and prominent role of you, dear nation. If that great blessing was taken from us, in its place once again the Ammar-like presence of the nation of Iran was granted to this system. Know this: If your power does not appear in the scene, neither the leadership nor any of the various devices whose real function is serving the people, will have the necessary efficiency.

In order for this meaning to be realized better, firstly, remembrance of God, Blessed and Exalted, and reliance on His Holiness and supplication to the pure lights of the Infallibles (Peace be upon them all), should be regarded like the greatest elixir and red sulfur that guarantees various openings and certain victory over the enemy. This is a great merit that you possess and your enemies lack.

Secondly; no breach should be entered into the unity between individuals and strata of the nation which usually finds a specific manifestation in times of constraint. This will be achieved by disregarding points of difference.

Thirdly; effective presence in the scene must be maintained; whether in the manner you demonstrated during these days and nights of war, or in the form of various effective roles in various social, political, educational, cultural, and even security arenas. The important thing is that the correct role, without undermining social unity, is well understood and implemented as much as possible. One of the duties of the Leadership and some other officials is to remind individuals or strata of society of some of these roles. Hence, I remind [you] of the importance of presence in the Quds Day 1447 ceremony, where the element of enemy-breaking must be considered by everyone.

Fourthly; do not refrain from helping and aiding one another. Praise be to God, this has always been the characteristic of most Iranians, and it is expected that in these special days, which naturally pass harder for some strata of the nation than others, this matter should have more prominence. In this opportunity, I ask the service agencies not to withhold any kind of help and assistance to those dear strata of the nation and to popular relief structures.

If these aspects are observed, the path for you, dear nation, to reach days of greatness and glory will be smoothed. The closest instance of this, by God's leave, could be victory over the enemy in the current war.

The Third Part of my speech is a sincere thank you to our brave fighters who, in conditions where our dear nation and homeland have been oppressively attacked by the heads of the Front of Arrogance, have blocked the enemy's path with their crushing blows and removed them from the illusion of the possibility of dominating the dear homeland and possibly partitioning it. Dear fighter brothers! The desire of the masses of people is the continuation of effective and regret-inducing defense. Also, certainly, the lever of blocking the Strait of Hormuz must still be used. Regarding opening other fronts where the enemy has little experience and will be severely vulnerable, studies have been conducted, and their activation, in case of the continuation of the war situation and based on observing expediencies, will be carried out.

I also sincerely thank the fighters of the Resistance Front. We consider the countries of the Resistance Front our best friends, and the matter of resistance and the Resistance Front is an inseparable part of the values of the Islamic Revolution. Undoubtedly, the cooperation of the components of this front with each other will shorten the path of salvation from the Zionist sedition; just as we saw, brave and faithful Yemen did not stop defending the oppressed people of Gaza, and self-sacrificing Hezbollah, despite all obstacles, came to the aid of the Islamic Republic, and the Iraqi Resistance has also courageously followed this line.

In the Fourth Part, my address is to those who have been harmed in some way in these past few days; whether those who have experienced the grief of the martyrdom of a dear one or dear ones; whether those who have been injured, and whether individuals whose home or dwelling or place of business has been damaged.

In this part Firstly, I declare my deep sympathy with the survivors of the high-ranking martyrs. This is based on a shared experience that I have with these dignitaries; apart from my father, whose loss has become a public matter, I have sent to the caravan of martyrs my dear and faithful wife, in whom I had hopes, and my self-sacrificing sister, who dedicated herself to serving her parents and eventually received her reward, as well as her young child, and my other sister's husband, who was a knowledgeable and noble human being. But what makes patience in the face of calamities possible and even easy is attention to the certain and definite divine promise of abundant reward for the patient. Therefore, one must be patient and have hope and trust in the grace and support of God (Glory and Highness).

Secondly, I assure everyone that we will not refrain from avenging the blood of your martyrs. The revenge we have in mind is not only related to the martyrdom of the Great Leader of the Revolution; rather, every member of the nation who is martyred by the enemy is itself an independent subject for the revenge file. Of course, a limited amount of this revenge has taken concrete form so far, but until its full extent is achieved, this file will remain on top of the rest of the files, and especially regarding the blood of our infants and children, we will have more sensitivity. Therefore, the crime that the enemy deliberately committed regarding "Minab Shajareh Tayyibeh School" and some similar cases has a special status in this investigation.

Thirdly, the veterans of these attacks must certainly receive appropriate medical services free of charge and benefit from certain other privileges. Fourthly, insofar as the current situation permits, sufficient measures must be defined and implemented to compensate for the financial damages inflicted upon properties and personal assets. These latter two cases constitute a mandatory duty for the respected officials, who must execute them and report back to me.

A point I must emphasize is that, in any case, we will exact reparations from the enemy, and if they refuse, we will seize their assets to the extent we deem necessary, and if that is not feasible, we will destroy their assets to the same extent.

Fifth Part of the speech is addressed to the leaders and influential ranks in some of the regional countries. We share land or maritime borders with fifteen countries, and we have always been and remain inclined towards warm and constructive relations with all of them, but the enemy has gradually established bases, both military and financial, in some of these countries for years to secure their dominance over the region. In the recent assault, some military bases were utilized, so naturally, just as we had explicitly warned, and without committing aggression against those countries, we targeted only those same bases. Henceforth, we will inevitably continue this course; although we still believe in the necessity of friendship between ourselves and those neighbors of ours. These countries must clarify their stance regarding the aggressors against our dear homeland and the murderers of our people. I recommend that they close those bases as soon as possible; because they must have realized by now that the claim of establishing security and peace by America has been nothing but a lie. This will enable them to connect more closely with their own nations, who are generally dissatisfied with alignment with the Front of Disbelief and its humiliating behavior, and it will increase their wealth and power. I reiterate that the Islamic Republic system, without intending to establish dominance or colonialism in the region, is fully prepared for unity and warm, sincere reciprocal relations with all neighbors.

In the Sixth Part of the speech, my address is to our martyred Leader. O Leader! With your departure, you inflicted a heavy grief upon everyone's hearts. You always longed for this end, until finally God Almighty granted it to you while reciting the Holy Quran on the morning of the tenth day of blessed Ramadan. You endured many injustices powerfully and with forbearance, without flinching. Many did not recognize your true worth, and perhaps much time will pass before various veils and obstacles are removed and aspects of it become apparent. We hope that from the position of proximity prepared for you in the vicinity of the Pure Lights, the Siddiqin, the martyrs, and the saints, you will continue to think about the progress of this nation and all nations of the Resistance Front and intercede for them; just as you did in your worldly life. We pledge to you that we will strive with all our being for the exaltation of this flag, which is the main flag of the Front of Truth, and to achieve your sacred objectives.

In the Seventh Part, I thank all the dignitaries who have supported me, including the Grand Maraji' of Emulation and various cultural, political, and social figures, and from the people who attended magnificent gatherings to express renewed allegiance to the system, as well as the officials of the three branches of government and the Temporary Leadership Council for their good measures and actions.

I hope that special divine graces during these hours and blessed days encompass all the people of Iran, and rather all Muslims and the oppressed of the world. And finally, I request from our Master (May God hasten his noble reappearance) that in this remaining period of the Nights and Days of Qadr and the blessed month of Ramadan, he seek from the Court of God Almighty (Glorified and Exalted) decisive victory over the enemy for our nation, as well as honor, breadth, and well-being, and for their departed ones, stations and otherworldly well-being.

The text of His Eminence's message is as follows:

With deep sorrow, I offer condolences on the martyrdom of the High-Ranking Leader of the Islamic Republic, His Eminence Ayatollah Mr. Khamenei (May Allah be pleased with him), to the honorable people of Iran and all Muslims of the world.

The exalted position of that great figure and their unique role in steering the system of the Islamic Republic over many years is clear to all.

Undoubtedly, the enemies, by martyring him and the extensive military aggression against the country, seek to strike at dear Iran. Following the selection of His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may his shadow be exalted) by the Assembly of Experts for Leadership as the third Leader of the Islamic Republic, the Speaker of the مجلس شورای اسلامی congratulated this worthy appointment in a message. In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The firm and precise decision of the honorable Assembly of Experts in selecting His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may his shadow be exalted) was a soothing balm for the heavy tragedy of losing the mentor and Leader dearer than our lives, which gladdened the hearts of the people of Iran and the believers and dashed the last hopes of the enemies of dear Iran.

I congratulate this blessed selection to the proud and martyr-rearing nation of Iran, all Muslims of the world, and lovers of justice and freedom, and I consider it my duty to thank the honorable Assembly of Experts for this wise and appropriate selection, announce my obedience to his commands, and remind all dear people of Iran of this will of the Late Imam: "Support the Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist so that no harm comes to your country." We consider this position as the deputyship of our Master His Eminence Walī al-ʿAṣr (may God Almighty hasten his noble reappearance), and in accompanying and obeying this Walī al-Faqih of the time, we make no distinction between him, our Great Imam, and our Martyred Imam, and we consider this duty our absolute religious and national obligation.

Assembly of Experts carried out its duty in the best possible way and in the shortest possible time under hard wartime conditions, and henceforth it is the duty of all officials and people to gather with cohesion and unity around this solid axis in guarding the blood of the martyrs of the Revolution, especially the Sayyid al-Shuhada of Islamic Iran Ayatollah Grand Imam Khamenei, and in preserving the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and strengthening Islamic Iran, and to advance the path of the Two Imams of the Revolution with power and determine the greatness and honor of Islamic Iran. (Surah An-Nisa, Verse 59) Honorable and Faithful People of Islamic Iran; We congratulate the selection of the General Deputy of the Imam of Time (may Allah hasten his reappearance), the Leader and Guardian Jurist of the Islamic Revolution and the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran by مجلس خبرگان رهبری following the martyrdom of the second wise leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (may God have mercy on him), who guided the Revolution and the Islamic system through historical passes with wisdom, power, and health after 37 years, and we thank the Almighty God for the great blessing of Guardianship. We congratulate the selection of the qualified Jurist, young thinker, and most knowledgeable in political and social issues, His Excellency Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and declare our respect, devotion, and obedience to the selection of the Assembly of Experts. This selection is a renewed dawn and the beginning of a new phase in the Revolution and the Islamic Republic, which made the painful sunset of the Great Commander, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, bearable for the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah. The selection of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution with the decisive vote of the majority of the Jurist Experts, amidst sufficient precision and accuracy and in the current complex conditions, proved to everyone that the movement of the Islamic system does not stop and the Revolution and Islamic system are not dependent on an individual. Certainly, the Guardian Jurist of the Time and the architect of the monotheistic society, with dynamic and progressive management, will move and guide the country and the Revolution from difficult passes towards the sublime goals of the sacred Islamic system. The Revolutionary Guards, as the soldier and powerful arm of the Guardianship, while supporting the selection of the Honorable Assembly of Experts, is ready for complete obedience and self-sacrifice in the divine orders of the Guardian Jurist of the Time, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and for preserving the values of the Islamic Revolution and protecting the precious heritage of the Two Imams of the Revolution, Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) and Imam Khamenei (may God have mercy on him). It is necessary in this sensitive historical juncture that all strata of society and well-wishers of Islamic Iran make the divine command of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him), based on "Support the Guardian Jurist so that no harm comes to your country," the ornament of their ears and souls, and with their magnificent and heroic presence in defense of the Guardian Jurist and the Islamic System and Revolution, step along the path of completing victories and triumphs of Islamic Iran over all bloodthirsty arrogants, dictators, monarchies, Zionists, until the realization of the New Islamic Civilization and the emergence of the great sun of Guardianship. سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی 18 Esfand 1404

Following the selection of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the Guardian Jurist of the Time and Leader of the sacred system of جمهوری اسلامی ایران by the Assembly of Experts; the Commander-in-Chief of the Law Enforcement Force of the Country, in a statement, while congratulating this worthy selection to the holy presence of Hazrat Wali-e-Asr (may Allah hasten his reappearance), the great nation of Iran, and the free people of the world, declared sincere allegiance and readiness to sacrifice life with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and emphasizes that just like during the leadership of the Imam of the Ummah and the Martyred Commander, they will be obedient and ready to execute his issued commands and directives.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Iran inside and outside the country, pledged allegiance بیعت to the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may his shadow endure). The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon stated in a statement: We congratulate the leadership and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the selection of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution, successor to the best of predecessors, the Sayyid of the martyred leaders of the Ummah, Imam Ali Hosseini Khamenei, who, after decades of jihad and wise leadership that preserved the path of the Islamic Revolution and established the way of honor, independence, and authority against the forces of global arrogance, was martyred.

Hezbollah honors the blessed efforts and the historical and religious responsibility undertaken by the Assembly of Experts for Leadership, which, despite difficult conditions and the criminal American-Israeli aggression against Iran and targeting the Assembly of Experts to prevent the selection of a new Leader, swiftly selected the new Leader of the Revolution and the Guardian of the Ummah, and considers the selection of Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei a cause of despair and confusion for the enemies.

This swift and wise selection sends a crushing message to the enemies of the Islamic Republic and the enemies of the Ummah that Iran, with its leadership and people, does not fear the terrorism of the aggressors, and efforts to strike this revolution will fail against the sacrifice of the mujahideen, the blood of the martyrs, and the solidity of the leadership. No power from America and Israel is capable of breaking the will of this dear nation, the children of the martyred Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and this revolution will continue with full power and solidity on the path of Wilayah until reaching honor and victory.

We in Hezbollah, while sincerely congratulating this occasion, renew our covenant and loyalty to this blessed path and steadfastness on the line of Wilayah, and we ask God Almighty to guide the steps of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei in continuing this authentic path drawn by Imam Khomeini, grant him success in carrying this great trust, protect him from the deceit of enemies and criminals, preserve the Islamic Republic and its dear people, and enable it to overcome this aggression with victory, power, and greater solidity.

We, the students and clerics of Sunni of Hormozgan Province, declare that we will stand firm and united in the path of the Islamic Revolution, in safeguarding independence, and in defending religious and national values, and we will make a covenant of loyalty and companionship with the new leadership of the Revolution. We will announce decisive support for this righteous successor and pledge with all our being to obey and follow the dictates of the Two Imams of the Revolution and the orders of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei (may Allah protect him), until the last breath.

Message by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the International Assembly for Approximation of Islamic Sects

Mawlawi Mohammad Ishaq Madani, in his message, considered this selection consoling following the loss of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution and emphasized the merits and upbringing of the new Leader in his school. We welcome this selection auspiciously, as Ayatollah Haj Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei is a direct trainee of the martyred Leader and has been by his side for years. Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei is a knowledgeable and capable figure, possessing deep political and religious insight, who can pursue the goals and ideals of the Islamic Revolution with power. The enemy's reactions indicate the enemy's weakness and demonstrate the strength of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei's character. Message by the International Foundation of Martyr Allamah Balkhi

Dr. Sayyed Reza Hosseini Balkhi, Secretary-General of the International Foundation of Martyr Allamah Sayyed Ismail Balkhi, issued a statement congratulating the selection of Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution and declared his allegiance to him. The statement read: "The wise and divine selection of His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei is another manifestation of the divine promise and the continuation of the luminous path of the Two Imams of the Revolution, Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei. Message by the Manager of Khademieh Ammanli Seminary, North Khorasan

Haj Goldi Akhund Kamali, Manager of Khademieh Ammanli Seminary: The selection of His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei by the Assembly of Experts for Leadership as the third Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a sign of his competence and eligibility to lead the country. Based on the jurisprudential and theological principles of Sunnis, I consider him the qualified Ulil-Amr who must be obeyed and declare my allegiance. We hope that with his guidance and leadership, the path of honor and authority for the Islamic world will continue with greater power.
