Tawfiq al-Wa'i is one of the elders of the call to the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Egypt, Kuwait, and the world. He is a professor and former head of the Creed and Da'wah group at the Faculty of Sharia, Kuwait University. He was born in 1930 CE, in the village of Dammas, one of the villages of the Mit Qamar center in the Dakahlia Governorate. He attended numerous conferences in various countries and participated in a conference hosted by Kuwait, where he presented a research paper on: "Abortion and its Ruling in Islam."


Education

He graduated from Al-Azhar and was immediately appointed and employed there. In 1984 CE (1363 SH), he successfully obtained a PhD in "Islamic Civilization Compared to Western Civilization". In 1992 CE (1371 SH), he successfully obtained the rank of Associate Professor and then reached the rank of Professor at the Faculty of Sharia.

He participated in various symposiums and numerous conferences, some of which are mentioned below.

  • International Conference on Government and Policy in Islam, London, August 1983 CE, research titled: "The Landmarks of the State in Islam", published.
  • Symposium of Jurists of Medical Sciences in Kuwait - titled: "Human Life, Its Beginning and End" - January 1985 - with a research paper on: "The Truth of Death and Life in the Quran and Sharia Laws" published.
  • Cultural Conference of Muslim Students in Europe in United Kingdom - Liverpool - with permission from Kuwait University, October 1986 CE, titled: "Islamic Da'wah in Europe".
  • Twenty-fifth Conference of the Federation of Muslim Students in England and Ireland titled "Towards a Pioneering Method for Islamic Action" with the research "Muslim Giving to the World" in December 1986 CE, held in Manchester.
  • Cultural Symposium at the Faculty of Sharia, Kuwait University with research on "Factors of Renaissance and Decline Throughout the History of the Islamic Nation" March 1987 CE.
  • Symposium on Medical Secrets, Islamic Organization of Medical Sciences, Kuwait, April 1987 CE, published with the paper "Medical Secrets of the Patient and the Responsibility of the Doctor".
  • Consultative Session on Moon and Time in Kuwait - with the presence of specialists from the Islamic world to discuss prayer times.
  • Conference of Trainers and Educators in Europe, Islamic Center, Germany discussing "Characteristics of Islamic Education".

Military Trial in Egypt

He was one of forty leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood who were summoned to an exceptional military trial in December 2006 CE, by presidential decree, and in April 2008 CE, was sentenced to ten years in prison in absentia due to not being acquitted three times by the judiciary.

Death

Dr. Tawfiq al-Wa'i died on Saturday, 16 March 2019, at the age of 89 in Kuwait and was buried there.
