Sheikh Mohammad Khalid is a politician from Afghanistan. He was appointed as the acting head of the Ministry of Vice and Virtue, Commanding the Good and Forbidding the Evil of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on 7 September 2021[1][2].
Life
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was born in 1964 in Kuwait to a Pakistani father and mother. He joined the Muslim Brotherhood in his youth and studied mechanical engineering at North Dakota State University. He has a history of fighting against Soviet Union forces in Afghanistan alongside the country's mujahideen. He met "Osama bin Laden", the former leader of Al-Qaeda, in Afghanistan for the first time in 1987.
According to The Daily Telegraph, in 1998 or early 1999, bin Laden approved the plan to attack the World Trade Center towers in New York, and Khalid Sheikh was responsible for selecting individuals to carry out these attacks and contributed significantly to the hijacking of airplanes that crashed into the towers on 11 September 2001.
In addition, Khalid is accused of carrying out attacks in England, attempting to explode an airplane on the Paris to Miami route, as well as in Pakistan and Bali. In March 2002, he had ordered a former resident of Baltimore to assassinate "Pervez Musharraf", the former President of Pakistan, by wearing a suicide vest.
Khalid Sheikh has confessed to beheading "Daniel Pearl", an American journalist who was kidnapped in Karachi by Al-Qaeda.
In total, for these terrorist actions, the FBI (US Federal Police) set a $25 million reward for Khalid Sheikh's arrest, and finally managed to detain Khalid in the city of "Rawalpindi" in 2003.
In addition to Khalid, several of his accomplices were also supposed to be tried. One of these individuals was "Majid Khan", 32, from Pakistan. Majid was educated in the US and confessed that he was selected by Khalid to carry out attacks against US interests on US soil. Majid confessed that after the 11 September attacks, he was supposed to carry out attacks on United States soil, including a plan to explode an underground fuel source.
Majid also confessed that he participated in other actions such as participating in a car bombing at the Jakarta hotel in 2003, which left 11 dead, and also participated in the assassination plot against "Pervez Musharraf", the former President of Pakistan[3].
