Biography

Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi was born in 1339 SH in Qom.

Education

He is a graduate of the Army Ground Forces Officer University and obtained a PhD in Defense from the National Defense University, and has been affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Army since 1358 SH^[1].

Presence at the Front

Major General Mousavi was present during the years of the Sacred Defense in the Army artillery corps on the war fronts in the west in Kurdistan region (in the 28th Kurdistan Division) and in the southwest of the country (in the 33rd Artillery Group of the Army Ground Forces), in Khuzestan Province, and in total has 96 months (8 years) of presence at the front. He was present in Operations Valfajr 4, Valfajr 9, Beit ol-Moqaddas 5, Qader, Nasr, and several other operations and is considered a veteran of the Sacred Defense years.

Executive Activities

After the end of the Imposed War in 1376 SH, he completed the Dafous course and also completed the theoretical PhD course in Defense Management at the National Defense University. From 1378 SH to 1384 SH, he was the Chief of Staff of the Army, and from 1387 SH to 1395 SH, he served as the Deputy of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army. Afterwards, from 1395 SH to 1396 SH, he served as the Deputy of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. On 30 Mordad 1396 SH, Abdolrahim Mousavi was appointed by the order of Imam Khamenei from the rank of Brigadier General to Major General and the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army; from this date, he replaced Seyyed Ataollah Salehi. Afterwards, on 7 Khordad 1398, by the Supreme Leader, while retaining the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Army, he was also appointed as the Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Headquarters^[2].
