Seyyed Abbas Araghchi is an Iranian diplomat and politician known as a member of the nuclear negotiating team with the "P5+1" group. He has also served as the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Political Deputy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Biography
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi was born on 14 Azar 1341 SH, in Tehran. He was raised in Bahar Street, around Peych Shemiran and Haft Tir, and is originally from Isfahan on his father's side.
Education
Araghchi obtained his Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Faculty of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his Master's degree in Political Science from the Islamic Azad University. He then received a PhD in Political Thought from the University of Kent England.
Family and Origin
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi was raised in a family where he lost his father at age 17 and has three sisters and three brothers, most of whom are active in the field of business and trade.
Activity in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Araghchi began his career as an expert in the International Section and in 1373 SH took his first post as the head of the Iranian representation in the Organization of the Islamic Conference. He has also served as the ambassador of Iran to Finland and Japan.
