Qari Fasihuddin Badakhshani is a military leader of the Taliban. He was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff (Loy Dristiz) of the current Afghanistan in the cabinet list of the Taliban Islamic Emirate government in August 2021 (CE)[1].
Activities
Qari Fasihuddin is from the Tajiks of Badakhshan province and has been one of the most important military commanders of the Taliban group, serving as a Taliban governor in past periods.
During the attack on Panjshir province, he was in command of the Taliban forces, and news of his death was also published, but Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman and deputy of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban cabinet, denied it. He is also known by the title Conqueror of the North and Conqueror of Panjshir.
Currently, he is the only person of Tajik ethnicity observed in the new cabinet of the Taliban group and has been appointed as the commander of the Taliban army[2][3].
