Jamal al-Din Sirwan is a Syrian preacher, missionary, and thinker who played a role in establishing the "International Union of Muslim Scholars" and also the "League of Scholars of the Levant". He has received numerous awards from various Islamic associations.


Biography

Jamal al-Din Sirwan was born in 1944 CE in Damascus into a family connected to scholars, including: Sheikh Ibrahim Ghulayni, memorizer and reciter Sheikh Abdulwahhab Hafiz nicknamed Dibs wa Zayt, Sheikh Abdul Karim Refa'i, memorizer, reciter, and jurist Sheikh Muhyi al-Din Kurdi, Sheikh Hasan Habanaki Maydani, and Sheikh Ahmad Shami. He began his elementary education and continued it at Jawdat al-Hashimi High School in Damascus. He studied dentistry for a while and also obtained a BA in Arabic literature from the University of Damascus, and also studied Sharia sciences.


Teachers

Some of his famous teachers in Islamic sciences include:

  1. Sheikh Abdul Karim Refa'i;
  2. Sheikh Muhyi al-Din Kurdi;
  3. Sheikh Naif al-Abbas;
  4. Sheikh Ahmad al-Shami, Mufti of Hanbalis.

It is worth mentioning that after years of attending the lessons of Sheikh Ahmad al-Shami, Hanbali jurist in the lands of Levant, along with Sheikh Usama Abdul Karim Refa'i, he received authorization in Hanbali jurisprudence. Some of his teachers in linguistic sciences and literature include: Said Afghani, Shukri Faysal, and Ahmad Ratib Nafakh.

  1. Missionary activities in Zaid bin Thabit al-Ansari Mosque under the supervision of Sheikh Abdul Karim Refa'i;
  2. Teaching at Al-Qusur Mosque in Damascus;
  3. Missionary activities in the city of Medina;
  4. Missionary activities in "Al-Rahma" Mosque in the city of Jeddah;
  5. Holding public lessons in Jeddah accompanied by Sheikh Nur al-Din Qarah Ali on Mondays;
  6. Missionary speeches in various countries and participation in various seminars and roundtables;
  7. Participation in establishing the famous website "Islam Online": Islamonline;
  8. Participation in establishing the "International Union of Muslim Scholars" ("Al-Ittihad al-Alami li-Ulama al-Muslimin").
  9. Participation in establishing the "Foundation of Scholars and Preachers of the Syrian Revolution";
  10. Participation in establishing the "League of Scholars of the Levant";
