Translation of the Quran into the Italian Language

Piccardo established Al-Hikmah Publications in 1993 CE and performed the first translation of the Quran by a Muslim into the Italian language. Regarding the features of his translation compared to previous translations, he says: The major difference of my translation with other translations is that the work we have done is a translation of the Quran by a Muslim for other Muslims and is different from the work of Bousani who belonged to a specific sect. He added: The work we did took about five years and it was necessary for the translation to pass through five specific committees that supervised the accuracy of the translation, accompanying footnotes, language, and final pagination. We published the first print of the translation in 1994 CE through a private publication that I established at that time, and with our permission, a cheaper print was published by another publication and so far we have sold 150,000 copies. He added: This is an ongoing work and we receive opinions and improve the translation and accept flaws, we work on all received criticisms[1].

Axis of Resistance, Solidarity Against Western Hegemony

Hamzeh Roberto Picardo, founder of the Union of Islamic Communities of Italy (UCOII), at the "Knowing Iran" conference hosted in Rome, spoke in his speech about the important role of the Axis of Resistance. He said from Hezbollah Lebanon to Palestinian groups and Iraqi and Yemeni forces, it is not just a military coalition but rather counts as a model of religious and political solidarity against Western hegemony. Picardo also stated that the Axis of Resistance has helped Iran stand against America and Israel and expand its political and ideological influence to the Mediterranean and the Red Sea[3].

The Role of Imam Khomeini in the Dignity of the World's Muslims

The Secretary-General of the Union of Islamic Communities and Organizations of Italy said: The current pride and dignity of Muslims of the world and the revival of Islam and Islamic honor in the present era, is owed to Imam Khomeini. Hamzeh Picardo, an Italian national and among the Sunni Muslims, added: Imam Khomeini is the most deserving and populist Islamic leader after the early Islam era. The Secretary-General of the Union of Islamic Communities and Organizations of Italy, who these days is heavily engaged in institutionalizing the rights of Muslims in this country, said: The increase in awareness among Muslims and the efforts of non-Muslims to recognize Islam and convert to it are all influenced by that global movement that Great Imam Khomeini launched.

He called the Islamic Revolution the valuable heritage and legacy of Imam Khomeini and said: The Islamic Revolution is the only true revolution in the world and everything about it is due to Imam Khomeini. Picardo, regarding Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized that the only free and democratic country in the world is Iran, and although harsh confrontations occur among its political factions, people are involved and active in all country affairs. Stating that the Islamic Revolution of Iran is dynamic and continuously undergoing transformation and growth, he expressed hope that Iran would be more successful and proud.

Establishing Islamic Solidarity with the Government of Palestine

Hamzeh Picardo, President of the Unions, Communities and Islamic Organizations at the International Quds Conference and Support for the People of Palestine, said: In current conditions, we need Islamic solidarity with the government of Palestine. In response to the question of what must be done so that the new government of Palestine can be a successful government and confront the tricks of the Israel regime, he said: The only and best possible way is to establish Islamic solidarity with the government of Palestine. He added: Muslims by establishing Islamic solidarity with the government of Palestine can prevent the extortions of the European Union and the Zionist regime which even denies Palestine's customs rights. Picardo said: If Muslims and their governments defend the struggle of the Palestinian nation, it is considered very important politically, although the struggle of the Palestinian people is the struggle of all of us Muslims.

The Most Important Challenge Facing the Palestinian Nation

Picardo in response to this question that what do you consider the most important challenge facing the Palestinian nation and the Autonomous Government, said: We are currently witnessing that the Zionist government continues its policy based on destroying the Palestinian nation and this is while the Palestinian nation also needs the help of all Muslims of the world to survive and economic aid from Muslims can be effective in reactivating the structures of the Autonomous Government, because with the emergence of an economic crisis, the end of the government will be turned, because it will no longer succeed in paying the salaries of employees, police, teachers and other costs. The Zionists hope that by applying economic pressures they create an atmosphere of dissatisfaction inside the Palestinians and cause the weakening of internal unity, but it will not be so, because we have always witnessed that when pressure is applied to Muslims they act better and their endurance power increases, of course now the conditions are acute and difficult and currently urgently demands the solidarity of all of us Muslims. The President of Islamic Communities of Italy then in response to this question that Islamic countries especially Islamic governments what action should they perform so that the Palestinian nation can reach security and comfort and welfare, said: When speaking of Islamic countries, first the meaning of an Islamic country must be clarified, because if a country is called Islamic merely because the majority of its citizens are Muslims this alone is not very satisfactory, because corrupt governments and followers of American imperialism that do not have the ability to react seriously against the Zionist government also exist among Islamic countries. He added: Of course I do not think that hostile confrontation would be beneficial, support must be given to the resistance of the Palestinian nation and measures must be adopted against the West so that it understands that this pressure and request exists from all Muslims, of course if Muslim nations also do not pressure their own governments and do not express their solidarity regarding Palestinians, this important matter will not be realized. We Muslims should not leave our Palestinian brothers and sisters alone against the occupiers.

Material Aid to Palestinians

Hamzeh Picardo in response to this question that instead of material aid to Palestinians is it not better for Islamic countries to help establish infrastructures of this country including power plants, dams, factories and health and education, said: Yes, of course economic aid also means building structures such as streets, rebuilding Gaza airport and etc., but if Islamic countries provide this type of aid and then Israel destroys them with an attack, then what must be done! Therefore, first the issues of Palestinians must be solved through political ways and relative security must be achieved. He finally in response to this question that what is your opinion regarding holding such conferences and basically what results and practical achievements can they have, said: In my opinion serious effort must be made so that the Tehran conference does not become ceremonial, because these conferences are held every year, but practical action and decisive executable decisions are not taken in them. In any case I hope that this conference can achieve desirable practical results in line with helping the oppressed people of Palestine[4].
