Adel Mustafa Farid Al-Marzouqi was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Egypt.
Biography
Adel Farid was born in 1934 (CE) in Rod El Farag, Cairo. His father passed away when he was 10 years old, and thereafter, his mother, along with his grandfather who was one of the scholars of Al-Azhar, took responsibility for his upbringing. He completed various stages of education and received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University in 1972 (CE). He was arrested in 1972 (CE)[citation needed] and after being released from prison in 1352 SH (1973 (CE)), he married the daughter of an old friend.
Cooperation with the Muslim Brotherhood
In 1951 (CE), through his uncle and friend named Khaled, who graduated from the Faculty of Law and was one of the forces of the Muslim Brotherhood, he became acquainted with the Muslim Brotherhood. He joined this movement in 1952 (CE) and taught there, participating in the Ibrahim Pasha University camp. It was led by Muhammad Mahdi Akef, and he was selected for the first battalion to the Canal in 1951 (CE), but one of the brothers ordered the doctor during the medical examination to reject Adel Farid. The only one who cared for the brothers and his mother was, in fact, rejected by the doctor.
Acquaintance with the Brotherhood
Regarding how he became acquainted with the Muslim Brotherhood, he says: I became acquainted with the Brotherhood through my uncle; he was my age and had joined the Muslim Brotherhood at that time. He invited me many times to go with him and pray at the mosque, but I always faced him with a firm refusal. However, one day I felt he was upset with me, so I said I would go with him so that he would not be angry with me anymore, and indeed I accepted his invitation. I went with him to Friday Prayer and at that time I saw the brothers in the mosque, became acquainted, became interested in them, and loved them. At that time, in 1952 (CE), a group was formed, and I joined it.
Arrest and Interrogation
Following the Manchiah Incident in October 1954 (CE), a large number of brothers were arrested and left their families behind. Subsequently, some brothers and sisters formed groups to attend to these families; thus, Adel Farid was one of them. Amounts were collected and made available to the families; however, after a while, all those involved in this work were arrested. Adel was one of them and was arrested in the financing organization in Mordad (August) 55 (CE)[1] and brought to court. He was sentenced to ten years imprisonment in various prisons, including Asyut Prison and Al-Wahat Prison. He remained in prison until he emerged from the calamity of prison on 10/10/1971 (CE).
Learning Skills in Prison
Regarding this, he says: I was arrested continuously for 16 years. I started my activity at the age of twenty-one in 1955 (CE); the cause of the arrest was the Manchiah Incident, during which the Muslim Brotherhood was dissolved and a large number were arrested, and we were sentenced to 10 years in prison. He says we created theater teams and established 3 sports clubs (Al-Sahel, Al-Talia, and Al-Hilal) so that they would not get bored. In prison, he learned carpentry, plumbing, and blacksmithing. He also worked as a barber in Wahat Prison. Among the best things he learned was agriculture, and his acting talent was noticeable in Asyut Prison.
Life After Hardship
After his release from prison in 1971 (CE), he did not leave his group. Since he lived in the Heliopolis area in 1975 (CE), he resumed his activity in the Muslim Brotherhood and remained in the service of his brothers until he was responsible for the Heliopolis region. However, the fatigue of years weighed on him, which caused him to resign from responsibility, and everyone in the Brotherhood was satisfied with him. After release from prison, he worked with Arab contractors for two years, and when Al-Sharif offered him work in his factories, he left the contractors and worked at the Al-Sharif Plastic Factory until he retired in 1996.
Notes
- ↑ The source text states "Mordad 55 CE", which is a calendar inconsistency (Persian month with CE year). Based on context (1954 incident and 1971 release), 1955 CE is intended.

Relations with the Guides
He states the following regarding his relationship with the Guides: I was associated with four of the Guides named Hasan al-Hudaybi, Umar al-Tilmisani, Hamed Abu al-Nasr, and al-Nasr. We were all in Wahat Prison. Regarding his relationship with Ustad al-Hudaybi, he says: He was far-sighted and possessed very high intelligence, and the first time we sat in the Revolutionary Command Council, he told us: Beware of this man, meaning Gamal Abdel Nasser, and indeed it later became clear that Gamal Abdel Nasser was exactly as he described. I recall that Hasan al-Hudaybi's advisor inside the prison would send us spiritual messages; once, during the blessed month of Ramadan, he sent us a prayer that had the greatest impact on me, and I recite it to this day: O Lord. I have greatly wronged myself, and no one forgives sins except You, so forgive me.
