Imam Hussein's basis of rising

Imam Hussein's movement has been considered from different perspectives. As Imam Hussein declares the basis of his rising is inviting people to the Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah, it is vital to investigate the Qur'anic dimension of this movement.

Objective of the article

The problem this article is to study is which verses of the Qur'an Imam Hussein (AS) has referred the people to so that they may know his movement? Therefore, the present article intends to examine the historical citations and analyze them using the Quranic verses, to examine Imam Hussein's citations to Quranic verses during the Ashura rising.

Findings

The findings of the research indicate that Imam Hussein could provide a complete interpretation of the Qur'an based on some Quranic verses in various situations from the societies' situation, the principles, goals and features of Ashura rising and from the situation of the enemy's army. Reviewing Imam Hussein's epic from the Qur'anic perspective will bring the Islamic Ummah back to the Qur'an and introduce the teachings of the Qur'an into the lives of Muslims.
