Admiral Shamkhani was born in 1955 (CE) in Khuzestan Province, in the city of Ahvaz. Shamkhani played a significant role in forming activist groups during the Pahlavi regime and participated in popular movements. In early 2014 (CE), he was hospitalized due to heart problems and underwent open-heart surgery.

Education

In addition to completing advanced and strategic military courses, Ali Shamkhani holds an engineering degree from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz and a master's degree in management. He drafted the first maritime strategy doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran and also designed the comparative strategy doctrine of America and the Soviet Union. Shamkhani also has a history of teaching at the country's military science academies.

Executive and Military Career

After the victory of the Islamic Revolution and during the Sacred Defense, Shamkhani held various responsibilities. Among these responsibilities were commanding the Ground Forces of the IRGC and serving as the Deputy Minister of the IRGC. Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council was his last position, and commanding the Khuzestan Corps of the IRGC during the Sacred Defense was among his responsibilities. After transferring to the Navy of the Army and receiving the rank of Admiral, he added commanding the Navy of the Army and the IRGC simultaneously, Minister of Defence in the government of Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, presidential election candidate, Head of the Strategic Studies Center of the Armed Forces, and Member of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations to his record.

Shamkhani's Role in the Purchase of Sunburn Missiles

In 2001 CE, during a trip to Russia in the city of Moscow, Shamkhani visited the advanced "Sunburn" missile with a range of 100 miles. The high performance of this missile led him to decide to order it from Russia; a missile that is today known as one of the main levers of power for the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Message to the Supreme Leader

The Political Advisor to the Leader of the Revolution published a message addressed to Ayatollah Khamenei and the people of Iran after his recovery, as follows.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

O Ali, our Master, O Hussein, our Martyr, O Fatimah al-Zahra, our Intercessor Dear, Powerful, and Brave Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei (may God prolong his shadow), Great, Noble, and Eternal Nation of Iran. Greetings of God upon you, who are the pillars of honor of this land; greetings to proud and epic-making Iran, which generation after generation sent its brave ones to the field and made its name known in history with the courage and steadfastness of its men and women. Today, while my breaths are still bound to the wounds on my body and the pen in my hand trembles from weakness, with an oath to the blood of the martyrs of this sacred soil, I have so much determination and zeal flowing in my veins that I consider silence a betrayal of the martyrs. So, with God's help, I shout my first word:

"Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return." With a heart full of blood, I honor those noble and patient cypress-like figures who, in the years of the Sacred Defense, whispered together in the darkness of the trenches: "Either victory, or martyrdom." Today, they wore the red robe of martyrdom, and I once again was left behind the caravan. Once again, the third medal of honor did not become our family's share, and my two martyr brothers continue to shed tears on my regret from the heights of the Throne. And now I remain, with a wounded body and a heart full of pain and longing. But if destiny is to remain, then I will remain; to continue to be the reason for the enemy's hostility. For he knows the reason well, and so do I! I will remain and will continue to be the crier of the epic; I am alive! And this wounded body, by the grace of the Lord, will continue to be the shield of this nation. My heart is the same "Labbaik" heart of yesterday, and today it beats for religion, for homeland, for the people. I am ready! Not once, but a hundred times to be sacrificed for this soil and its unparalleled people. I am ready to fill the trench of defense of homeland and honor with the zeal and will of an Arab from the proud land of Khuzestan with this same wounded body. I am ready to shout "Ya Zahra (peace be upon her)" in the storm of the Zionist enemy's missiles and keep the name of Iran raised like a flag at the top of history.

Dear and Noble People of Iran! I wrote these few lines to say that you are not alone. In every home where the lamp of zeal is lit, in the heart of every grieving mother, and in the eyes of every youth looking to the future, Iran stands with divine light. We are a nation of hope and zeal. We see grief, but we do not bow. We give blood, but we do not give identity. Martyr commanders, proud scientists, men of the field and mihrab, are never absent and as blood flows in the veins of this nation, now their sacred flag has fallen into our hands so that it does not remain on the ground.

Dear and Brave Leader of the Revolution, be assured; your children are still in the field. Not only with weapons, but with faith and hope. And let the enemy know: Fighting with Iran is playing with a fire that will have nothing but ashes for him. God's promise is true: Template:Quran; and that day is near… the bright day of victory, when the name of Iran, will shine at the top of history as always, and the smile of the martyrs will be the mirror of our tomorrow.

Small soldier of the great nation of Iran, Ali Shamkhani[2].
