Ali Shadmani was a recognized and prominent commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who had a long history in operational, staff, and strategic fields. He was severely wounded on 27 Khordad 1404 SH (17 June 2025 CE) during the attack by the Zionist regime and reached Martyrdom on 4 Tir (25 June 2025 CE).

Biography

General Ali Shadmani was born in Hamedan. Before the Revolution, he was a student of hematology at Mashhad University, but he left his studies and went to military service. Concurrent with the peak of the Revolution, he escaped from the garrison and joined the revolutionary forces in Hamedan. After the victory of the Revolution, he became a member of the IRGC. During the Kurdistan crisis, he was dispatched to Paveh along with 64 forces from Hamedan and then spent about six months countering counter-revolutionary groups in the Sanandaj and Saqqez regions; in that mission, 61 of his comrades were martyred[1]. During the imposed war, he held the responsibility of commanding the 32nd Ansar al-Hussein (peace be upon him) Division and played an active role in the western and southern fronts of the country.

Post-War Career

After the end of the Sacred Defense, he served as the Deputy of Operations of the IRGC Ground Forces and then the Commander of the 3rd Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada Special Forces Division. Additionally, commanding the Najaf Ashraf Headquarters, heading the Operations Department of the Armed Forces General Staff, and finally the Deputy of Operations of the Armed Forces General Staff were among his other major responsibilities in past decades. Prior to this, Shadmani was the Coordinating Deputy of the Khatam al-Anbia (peace be upon him and his progeny) Central Headquarters and had complete familiarity with the operational structure and special role of this headquarters in coordination between the Army, IRGC, Ministry of Defense, and other security institutions[2].

Command of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters

From 1395 SH (2016 CE) until now, he served as the Coordinating Deputy of the Khatam al-Anbia (peace be upon him and his progeny) Central Headquarters until in Khordad 1404 SH (June 2025 CE), following the martyrdom of General Gholam Ali Rashid, by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, he was appointed as the new commander of this strategic headquarters with the rank of Lieutenant General.

The text of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces' order is as follows.

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Lieutenant General Ali Shadmani

Considering the honorable and glorious martyrdom of Lieutenant General Guard Gholam Ali Rashid at the hands of the accursed Zionist regime, and given your competence and valuable experiences, I appoint you with the rank of Lieutenant General to the command of the Khatam al-Anbia (peace be upon him and his progeny) Central Headquarters. Strategic and operational planning and guidance in confronting threats and precise identification of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran with an approach of synergy with the Armed Forces General Staff is expected. On the eve of the blessed Eid al-Ghadeer, I ask God the Generous for the devoted and sincere martyrs, exaltation of degrees and high stations and companionship with the divine guardians, especially Master of the Monotheists, Imam Amir al-Mu'minin Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him), from the Almighty God. I ask the Almighty God for the continuation of everyone's successes. Seyyed Ali Khamenei[3].

Dear and noble people of Iran; the valiant and honorable general of Islam, Lieutenant General Guard Ali Shadmani, commander of the Hazrat Khatam al-Anbia (peace be upon him and his progeny) Central Headquarters, joined his martyr comrades and ascended to heaven due to severe injuries caused by the bombing of the accursed and aggressor Zionist regime that took place last week. Martyr General Ali Shadmani was a prominent example of those educated in the school of Ashura and the Two Imams of the Islamic Revolution, who spent his entire life in the path of jihad in the way of God and with years of struggle and sincere and courageous presence in the fields of Sacred Defense and fighting against the system of domination and global arrogance was awaiting martyrdom, which he finally achieved by reaching the peak of salvation and attained his long-standing desire. We offer condolences and congratulations on the martyrdom of this general and valiant commander of Islam to the presence of Hazrat Baqiyyatallah al-Azam (may God hasten his reappearance), the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the dear and respected family, martyr comrades, and the heroic nation of Iran. By the will and power of God, certainly with the martyrdom of this steadfast mujahid, his path will be continued with greater firmness by the powerful hands of the fighters of Islam. God willing[4].
