Seyyed Esmaeil Khatib, was a cleric, politician, Director General of Intelligence of Qom Province, Head of the Protection and Information Center of the Judiciary, and Head of Security of Astans Quds Razavi, who was selected as Minister of Intelligence in the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Governments by obtaining a vote of confidence from the majority of representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

Biography

Seyyed Esmaeil Khatib was born in 1340 SH, in Qayen County. He had Hawza studies and attended the advanced Fiqh classes of Supreme Leader and benefited from the presence of the late Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, and also Ayatollah Mojtaba Tehrani.

Seyyed Esmaeil Khatib was introduced on 3 Shahrivar 1400 SH, by Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi as the proposed Minister of Intelligence in the Thirteenth Government to the Islamic Consultative Assembly and obtained a vote of confidence from the Islamic Consultative Assembly to hold the Ministry of Intelligence with 222 favorable votes, 48 opposing votes, and 17 abstentions. Also, he was introduced as Minister of Intelligence for the second time by Masoud Pezeshkian in the Fourteenth Government and was selected with 261 votes out of 288 present representatives.
