Saadeddine Othmani is a Moroccan physician and politician who was appointed as the Head of Government of Morocco on 17 March 2017 AD. He is also the Secretary-General of the "Justice and Development Party", also known as the Muslim Brotherhood in Morocco.


Biography

Saadeddine Othmani was born on 16 January 1956 AD, in the city of Inezgane, located in the south of Morocco. He completed his elementary and high school education in his hometown and then pursued studies in the field of medicine. In 1987 AD, he received his Doctorate in General Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca, and in 1994 AD, he obtained a specialty certificate in psychiatry. Othmani has also studied in the field of Sharia and Fiqh and holds several advanced degrees in this area.


Career

He began his medical activities as a general physician and then as a psychiatrist, and from 1990 AD, he worked in the private sector. In the political arena, Othmani was elected as a Member of Parliament from 1997 AD, and in 2008 AD, he was appointed as the President of the National Council of the Justice and Development Party. He also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013 AD.


Party Leadership

Saadeddine Othmani has been serving as the Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party since December 2017 AD. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2011 and 2016 AD elections, and in 2017 AD, he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Morocco. During his premiership, he faced economic challenges and criticisms of the government's performance.
