Saad Haggag was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

Biography

He was born in the village of Bashtil, affiliated with the city of Imbaba, Giza Governorate, from the regions of Egypt on May 25, 1925 AD. He lived in a poor family and grew up there; he had no brothers or sisters and grew up alone. He spent his childhood like his peers, but his father was eager to teach him the Quran, so he entered elementary school from childhood and became a member of it and engaged in memorizing the Quran, and with the grace of God he was able to memorize it at the age of twelve, which had a great impact on shaping his personality. After finishing elementary school, in 1937 AD, he became acquainted with several inappropriate peers whom the villagers feared. His father, after seeing his son in this state, married him to his cousin. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1968 AD. In 2005 AD, he began working as the First Deputy of the Ministry of Administrations and remained there until retirement.

Answering the Call of the Brotherhood

He joined this movement at a young age upon the invitation of the Muslim Brotherhood. As soon as he answered the call of the Muslim Brotherhood, he was influenced; so he strove for it with sincere determination and a heart full of faith, hence he went to Bashtil and neighboring villages to make his call known. There, he encountered the revolutionaries, and [faced] the transformation of [the movement] into a group affiliated with the Liberation Organization established by Gamal Abdel Nasser, as well as the temptations and conspiracies that Gamal Abdel Nasser plotted to destroy it, and they tried to eliminate the call of the Brotherhood.

Mansha Incident

On October 26, 1954 AD, Egypt as a whole faced an important event, namely the Mansha Incident. Where Gamal Abdel Nasser stood on that night on the occasion of the signing of the evacuation agreement, in front of the attendees and began to speak, and suddenly eight bullets were fired into the sky and chaos erupted, then he announced that one of the brothers of Imbaba intended to assassinate Abdel Nasser and the speech had not yet ended when public investigations began. Military intelligence roamed the streets of Egypt from east to west and arrested the Brotherhood and rewarded those who disclosed the hiding place of a brother. Before investigations were conducted regarding who shot Gamal Abdel Nasser, the prisons were full of brothers of the Brotherhood.

Promoting the Brotherhood

He met with his brothers in Imbaba and Dokki and among them he greatly promoted the Brotherhood, to acquaint the young generations with this call and teach them its history and what happened to the Muslim Brotherhood and in 1975 AD, he was elected president of the People's Assembly and remained there until 1987 AD.

Strengthening Family Ties

He tried to resolve differences between people. His door was always open to all people of Bashtil and neighboring villages to resolve differences that had arisen between people, and he was always present at occasions of joy and sorrow. Which caused people to appreciate his presence among them more, as he strove to create private clinics for the people of the village and for this reason prepared and equipped a place in his own house. He spoke with some doctors and secured their agreement to serve the people. Such that nearly 500 circumcision operations were performed on the children of the village.
