Hafiz Muhammad Saeed (born 1950) was the Emir of Lashkar-e-Taiba, one of the most active and largest jihadist organizations.
History
This group was established in 1987 AD concurrently with the war in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union and initially began its activities as the military wing of "Markaz Dawat wa Irshad" affiliated with the extremist school of "Ahl-e-Hadith" Pakistan.
Lashkar-e-Taiba and its forces were actively present in the civil wars of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Bosnia over many years, and after the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, they seriously focused their activities on recapturing areas of Kashmir under Indian control[1].
International Consequences
This organization has been recognized as a terrorist organization by India, the United States[2], United Kingdom, European Union, Russia, and Australia. He is one of the most wanted individuals in India due to his connection with Lashkar-e-Taiba and attacks against India.
In December 2008, the United Nations declared the Lashkar-e-Taiba group a terrorist organization and Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, as the leader of the organization, a terrorist [3].
In April 2012, the United States announced a $10 million reward for his killing due to his role in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks [4].
