Elijah Muhammad (English: Elijah Muhammad; born October 7, 1897 – died February 25, 1975) was a politician and the leader of the radical movement in the United States known as the Nation of Islam in United States. He believed that Black people were the true Muslims and that white Muslims were devils. However, after his death, his son Warith Deen Muhammad rejected his father's doctrines.

Religious Activities

In 1930, an organization called the Nation of Islam was established in the United States by Wallace Fard Muhammad. The primary objective of this organization was to improve the living conditions of African Americans. In 1934, Wallace Fard Muhammad mysteriously disappeared, and his disciple Elijah Muhammad assumed leadership of the movement. Exaggerated emphasis on the violated rights of Black people and excessive praise of the Black race were entrenched characteristics of this American organization, which, rather than guiding Black people toward true Islam, entangled them in racial attributes specific to Black people.

Extremism

The teachings that Elijah Muhammad transmitted from Wallace Fard Muhammad evolved into the modern theology of the Nation of Islam movement. Gradually, among the members of the Nation of Islam, due to Elijah Muhammad's deviant propagation of religion and the struggle to reclaim their rights from white Americans, Wallace Fard Muhammad came to be referred to by titles such as "God in human form," "Christ," and likewise "Mahdi."

Black People as the Superior Race in History

Elijah Muhammad instilled in his followers the belief that the Black race is the superior race in history, having suffered oppression and anguish at the hands of the evil race for 6,000 years. Elijah Muhammad defined the goal of the Nation of Islam movement as restoring Black dominance, a dominion that, in his view, had been stolen by inferior white people and must be reclaimed in the United States.
