The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program

From Wikivahdat

The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania's Lauder Institute investigates the influence and function of policy institutes in governmental and societal contexts worldwide[1].

Mission as Think Tanks’ think tank

Often recognized as a premier authority on think tanks, TTCSP analyzes the changing dynamics of public policy research organizations. For over three decades, it has spearheaded global initiatives aimed at bridging knowledge and policy gaps across vital areas like international security, governance, economic development, environmental concerns, public health, and social equity.

Collaborative Efforts and Global Think Tank Index

TTCSP collaborates with distinguished scholars and practitioners from various think tanks and universities, producing the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index. This index evaluates and ranks top think tanks internationally, supported by insights from a panel of over 1,796 experts from media, academia, governments, and donor institutions. The index serves as a valuable tool for academics, journalists, and policymakers to identify and engage with leading public policy research centers across the globe.

Building Networks and Capacity in Public Policy Research

Since its establishment in 1989, TTCSP has dedicated itself to gathering data on think tank trends and their impacts on civil society's role in policymaking. In 2006, it initiated a global think tank index project to highlight centers of excellence in public policy research worldwide. TTCSP has since supported capacity-building initiatives in 85 countries and aims to foster regional and global think tank networks to enhance collaborative efforts, producing significant global public goods. The program strives to build sustainable partnerships that leverage think tanks’ capacities to influence public policy effectively for societal benefit[2].
