Sayyed Mohammad Shahcheraghi, was the former Representative of the Supreme Leader in Semnan Province and the Friday Prayer Imam of this city, and was considered one of the prominent religious and political figures of Iran.

Biography

Ayatollah Shahcheraghi, born in 1313 SH, after completing elementary education, went to the Damghan Seminary at the age of 15 and later migrated to Qom. He studied in Qom for 17 years and then migrated to Nain and Semnan. In 1358 SH, he was appointed as the first Friday Prayer Imam of Mehdishahr, and in 1380 SH, he was selected as the Representative of the Supreme Leader in Semnan Province.

Teachers

His teachers include: Ayatollah al-Uzma Borujerdi, Imam Khomeini, Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyed Mohammad Reza Golpayegani, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Mohaghegh Damad, Ayatollah Morteza Haeri, Ayatollah Sayyed Mustafa Khomeini, and Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, in whose presence he sought scientific benefit for years.

Activities

Ayatollah Shahcheraghi provided numerous services to the Islamic society throughout his life. Among his activities, one can mention leading Friday prayers in Mehdishahr and Semnan, presence in the Assembly of Experts, and establishing the Esmaetiyeh Seminary. His services and life have been published in a book titled "Aqa Sayyed Mohammad" in 1402 SH.

Death

Finally, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Shahcheraghi passed away on 22 Azar 1404 SH, corresponding to 22 Jumada al-Thani, at Sina Hospital in Semnan.

The text of the message from Ayatollah Khamenei is as follows: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful I offer condolences on the passing of the mujahid and devoted scholar, the late Hojjat al-Islam Hajj Sayyed Mohammad Shahcheraghi (may God have mercy on him), to the honorable people of Semnan Province and his devotees and enthusiasts, and especially the honorable Shahcheraghi family and the family of the deceased. Years of leading Friday prayers in Semnan and familiarity with revolutionary elements and youth, and other public services of his, are among the distinctions of this great Sayyed and deserving of divine favors, may God have mercy on him.

Message from the Head of the Assembly of Experts

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful "Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return" The passing of the former member of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Hajj Sayyed Mohammad Shahcheraghi "(may his resting place be pure)", caused grief and sorrow. He was among the fighters against the Pahlavi regime who was arrested and imprisoned by SAVAK, and after the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in addition to educating and training seminary students, in executive and judicial responsibilities including the position of Sharia Judge, Director General of the Martyrs Foundation of Semnan Province, and two terms of representation of the honorable people of Semnan in the Assembly of Experts, as well as Friday Prayer Imam of Mehdishahr county and Representative of the Supreme Leader in Semnan Province and Friday Prayer Imam of the center of this province, he was counted among the active and devoted clerics and scholars in the Islamic System. I, while offering condolences on the death of this revolutionary scholar, sincerely offer condolences for the loss of his passing to the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution "(may his shadow remain high)", the representatives of the Assembly of Experts, the family and honorable children of the deceased, and all his devotees and enthusiasts, especially the honorable people of Semnan, and ask God Almighty for the exaltation of the degrees of that blessed deceased.
