The Event of Ghadir Khumm|Ghadir Khumm event (Arabic: واقعة غدير خم) refers to a sermon delivered by the the Prophet Muhammad on 18 Dhu al-Hijjah of 10 AH (March 632 CE) at the pond (ghadir) of Khumm, located between Mecca and Medina. While the event is a central pillar of Shīʿa doctrine regarding the succession to Muhammad, it has also been interpreted by many Sunni and other Muslim scholars as an occasion of profound moral, spiritual, and communal significance.
