Quran is the heavenly and holy book of Muslims, and all Muslims, whether Sunni or Shia, accept it. This book is recognized as the most important Miracle of the Prophet of Islam. The Holy Quran consists of 30 Juz and 114 Surahs.

This heavenly book was revealed to Hazrat Muhammad ibn Abdullah (Peace Be Upon Him and His Progeny) in two forms: instantaneous revelation and gradual revelation, through Revelation.

First Revealed Verses

The first Verses of the Quran of the Holy Quran that were revealed to the Noble Prophet were the first to sixth verses of Surah Al-Alaq: Template:متن قرآن; Read in the name of your Lord who created the world * The One who created man from a clot of blood * Read that your Lord is the most Generous * The One who taught by the pen * And taught man what he did not know * Nay, indeed man transgresses.

Distortion of the Quran

Muslims, both Shia and Sunni, believe that the Quran has been preserved without any omission or addition exactly as it was revealed to the Noble Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him and His Progeny) and has not undergone Distortion. This belief is based on various rational and narrative evidences (from the Quran and traditions) and historical evidence of Muslims' attention to preserving the Quran.

Revelation of the Quran and Scholars' Views

Majority View

According to this view, which the majority of Muslims also agree with, the Quran is the Divine Word, meaning that its words and meanings were revealed from God Almighty to the sacred heart of the Prophet, and he recited and read it to the people without any alteration.

Minority View

Proponents of this view, who are some religious intellectuals, believe that the Quran was a type of inspiration and inner revelation of the Prophet and does not have a direct connection with God and the unseen world. Adherents of this thought are also divided into two groups: A. Some believe that the meanings and content of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet's heart by God, but the Prophet expressed the received meanings to the people with the words and literature specific to the era of revelation. B. Others believe that the words and meanings of the Quran were an effusion of the Prophet's thought and heart and have no connection with the unseen source. To explain and examine the aforementioned views further, it is necessary to state the characteristics of Quranic revelation from the perspective of the Quran and then see which analysis conforms to it:

Characteristics of Quranic Revelation from the Quran's Perspective

Independence of the Quran from the Prophet's Personality

The contents of many verses are such that they prove the complete independence of the Quran from the Prophet's spiritual and moral states. Some of these verses are as follows:

• Verses that aim to correct the behavior of the Prophet in certain matters, including those revealed in Surah Taha, Kahf, Tahrim, and Ahzab: Template:متن قرآن In this noble verse, the Divine Revelation asks the Prophet not to hasten in reciting and memorizing the Quran before the completion of its revelation and to have the necessary steadfastness in this regard.

In Surah Al-Qiyamah, it is stated as follows: Template:متن قرآن The same content is mentioned in another way, and he is requested to refrain from hastening in reciting and speaking it during the revelation of the Quran and to wait until after the completion of the revelation to recite and propagate it. Template:متن قرآن From the above verses and others, it is understood that the Prophet suffered greatly from the deplorable situation of the people of his time and wished that all of them would believe in the truths of religion; but the Quranic Revelation comforted and consoled him, asking him that the atheistic and polytheistic spirits of the people should not cause him distress and hardship. In another guidance addressed to him, it says that guidance and misguidance are in God's hand, and no one, not even the Prophet, is able to guide anyone without Divine permission.

• Verses that exempt the Prophet from any kind of interference in the Quran and even warn him in this regard, such as: Template:متن قرآن.

The content of the noble verse is that the polytheists asked the Prophet to produce a Quran other than the existing Quran for them. In response to such a request, the Prophet said: I have pure obedience to the Divine Revelation in the matter of the revelation of the Quran and have no authority from myself; therefore, the Quranic Revelation is not subject to the states of the Prophet's thoughts and spirits, and any kind of interference in the verses by him is impossible.

Quran's Challenge in Human Incapacity

In numerous verses, humans are asked that if they doubt the divinity of the Quran and its non-human origin, they should be able to bring a Surah like the Surahs of the Quran: Template:متن قرآن The words lam taf'alu, lan taf'alu, fa'tu bi surah in the aforementioned verse indicate that no one among humans is able to bring a Surah like a Surah of the Quran; therefore, if we consider the Quran as a product of the Prophet's religious experience and inner revelation, naturally such an experience should be possible for other humans as well, and the Quran's challenge deprives all humans of such capability.

Request for Miracle

From numerous verses of the Holy Quran and also the history of the life of Divine Prophets, it is understood that the opponents of the Divine Prophets asked them to show a miracle or an extraordinary thing to prove the truth of their claim regarding connection with the unseen world, such as the miracles requested from Abraham (Peace Be Upon Him), Salih (Peace Be Upon Him), Hud (Peace Be Upon Him), etc. Here we say if Prophethood is the same as inner discovery and the product of the spiritual austerities of the Divine Prophets and Revelation effused from within them, requesting a miracle from them would be meaningless.

Insults to the Quran

This heavenly book has been insulted and disrespected several times, which has angered Muslims. From the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Government of Denmark is responsible for preventing insult to the Holy Quran and Islamic sanctities and also for pursuing and punishing the insulters, and in this regard, public opinion in the Islamic World awaits practical action from the Government of Denmark. Perpetrator of Disrespect and Insult

On Thursday afternoon (July 20), for the second time in recent weeks, the perpetrators of Quran burning in Sweden, with the green light of the police of this country and after receiving permission for an anti-Islamic gathering in Stockholm, insulted the Holy Quran. "Salwan Momika", an Iraqi-Swedish citizen, insulted the Holy Quran again at this gathering with the support of the Swedish police and burned the flag of Iraq.

Reaction to the Repeated Insult to the Quran

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the United Nations, told reporters regarding the repeated desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden: It is quite clear that disrespect for holy books and places of worship is unacceptable; but unfortunately, historically such actions have been used for provocation. He added: Respect for each other's religion is important.

The Unmasking of the West

Mohammad Sadeq Al-Kazem, Ambassador of Iran to Iraq, wrote in a tweet: Once again, the mask fell from the face of the West that was hidden behind a lie called freedom of speech. He added: The West uses the lie of freedom of speech unilaterally to insult the beliefs of nearly two billion Muslims on planet Earth; this time the Holy Quran was insulted in Sweden so that the fake civilization based on decline approaches its end.

Expulsion of Sweden's Ambassador from Islamic Countries

Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon, in response to the repeated desecration of the Holy Quran said: Muslim nations must ask their governments to expel Sweden's ambassadors in these countries and themselves hold sit-ins after Friday prayers. While requesting the Government of Lebanon to withdraw its ambassador from Sweden, he stated: The Government of Lebanon must expel Sweden's ambassador in protest of the desecration of Muslim sanctities. The Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon, referring to the fact that every Muslim must fulfill their responsibility towards the Islamic Ummah, said: It seems that Mossad is behind this sedition. After the end of the term of Sweden's ambassador in Iran, currently this country does not have an ambassador in Iran.

Combating Islamophobia, Xenophobia, Racism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, issuing a statement while condemning the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden in the strongest terms, stated: After the hateful attack on the Quran in front of a mosque in Stockholm on June 28 (July 7), the Human Rights Council of the UN in a resolution approved on July 12 (July 21); according to that resolution, attack on the Quran should be considered religious hatred.

Message from Iran's Leader

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution issued a message regarding the insult to the Holy Quran as follows:

"In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful"

Insult to the sacred presence of the Holy Quran in Sweden is a bitter, conspiratorial, and dangerous incident. The severest punishment for the perpetrator of this crime is agreed upon by all Islamic scholars, and the Government of Sweden must also know that by supporting the criminal, it has taken a war stance against the Islamic world and attracted the hatred and enmity of all Muslim nations and many of their governments towards itself. It is the duty of that government to hand over the perpetrator of the crime to the judicial systems of Islamic countries. The conspirators behind the scenes should also know that the sanctity and grandeur of the Holy Quran will increase day by day and the lights of its guidance will become more brilliant; plots like this and their perpetrators are too insignificant to be able to prevent this increasing brilliance. And Allah is Dominant over His affair.

Statement by the Approximation Assembly

Following the desecration of the Quran, the World Assembly of Approximation between Islamic Sects issued a statement as follows: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Template:متن قرآن. The repeated audacity of the enemies of the Religion of God against the sacred book of the world's Muslims (the Holy Quran) shows the continuation of organized hostility towards Islam and disregard for the beliefs and sanctities of hundreds of millions of Muslims on this planet. This move, which is an inhuman, unethical action and contrary to international laws, is carried out by unidentified individuals with the support of Western and Zionist planners and politicians with the aim of de-religionizing and creating doubt in the beliefs and faiths of God-worshippers in all Divine Religions. The insulting mercenaries and their masters behind the scenes have for centuries seen the teachings of Revelation as a strong barrier against their excesses and aggressions and occasionally ignite a fire on the sacred papers of God's Word by creating a disgusting and futile show. Unaware that the Word of God encompasses the entire heart and thought of the Islamic Ummah and such propaganda shows will not reduce the devotion of monotheists to the Divine verses in the slightest and, contrary to the wish of the ill-wishers, will accelerate the movement of believers towards happiness. Ahmed al-Tayeb's Response to the Letter from the Head of Seminaries

Ahmed al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Egypt, in response to the letter from the Head of Seminaries of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed hope that the insult to the Holy Quran would become a motivation for resolving differences and unity of word among Muslims. He announced in a statement that he received the letter of Ayatollah Alireza A'rafi, Head of the Seminaries of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with complete satisfaction and welcome. He stated that this inhuman and uncivilized incident should be a motivation for resolving differences and unity of word among Muslims in the East and West to stand against challenges that threaten their security and sanctities. He also emphasized his determination and will to hold Islamic dialogues between scholars of Islam around the world regardless of their religious and sectarian differences with the aim of creating Unity and acquaintance and staying away from factors of sedition and differences. He added that he continues to fulfill his mission to support the Religion of Islam and confront any insult to it and is on the lookout for those who intend to insult Muslims and their sanctities. Ahmed al-Tayeb also called on all Arab and Islamic nations to continue boycotting Swedish and Danish goods with the aim of supporting the Holy Quran.

Resolution of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation issued a resolution in an emergency session regarding repeated incidents of desecration of the Holy Quran. In this resolution, recent heinous aggressions against the Holy Quran in Sweden were strongly condemned, and regret was expressed over the repetition of such actions and also the successive issuance of permits to carry out these actions by authorities and the failure to take necessary measures to prevent such acts in Sweden and Denmark. In this meeting, the failure of Swedish and Danish authorities to take measures to prevent the repetition of such actions was declared contrary to Security Council Resolution 2686 of the United Nations regarding tolerance, peace, and international security. It was also decided that a delegation led by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation be sent to invite the European Union Commission to express the strong condemnation of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding the crimes of desecration of the Holy Quran and ask them to take necessary measures to prevent the repetition of such criminal acts under the pretext of freedom of speech. Any attempt to desecrate the Holy Quran and other holy books, values, and symbols of Islam and other religions under the cover of freedom of speech was condemned, which is contrary to Articles 19 and 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the international community was asked to stand against these provocative efforts. In this meeting, repeated crimes of desecration of the Holy Quran, which aroused the anger of about two billion Muslims around the world, were condemned, and ministers demanded the immediate cessation and criminalization of such provocative extremist actions and emphasized the necessity of respecting religious texts and symbols and promoting a culture of peace.
