Tamimiyya (or Zurariyya) is a branch of the Extremist Shia sects. This sect is Waqifi regarding Imamate, accepting Imamate up to the seventh Imam, whom they consider the Qa'im Al Muhammad, and they believe that His Holiness will appear one day.

Founder
Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari says that the founder of this sect is a person named Zurarah ibn A'yan.

History
Al-Kashi writes that Zurarah lived around the year 80 AH in Dar al-Walid, Kufa, and was among the disciples of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
According to Al-Najashi, Zurarah ibn A'yan was a slave who had been freed. Shaykh Saduq says that the book Al-Istita'ah wa al-Jabr is authored by Zurarah. Shaykh Tusi writes in his book Al-Fihrist: His name was Abd Rabbah, kunya Abu al-Hasan, a squint-eyed man who was originally a Roman slave freed by a man from the Banu Shayban tribe. His grandfather, Sansan, was in Rome and among the monks. He had brothers named Hamran al-Nahwi, Bukayr ibn A'yan, and Abd al-Malik ibn A'yan. Al-Mamaqani writes. The hadiths attributed to him indicate that he is severely weak in chain of narration. Among the reports received in condemnation of him is that after the death of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), Zurarah sent his son Ubayd to Medina to recognize His Holiness's successor; when his death approached, he took the Quran in hand and said: Whoever whose Imamate this Mushaf confirms is my Imam.

Beliefs
Tamimiyya believe that knowledge, power, life, hearing, and sight were not with God from eternity; rather, God created these attributes for Himself in later times. Additionally, this sect is "Waqifi" regarding Imamate, accepting Imamate up to the seventh Imam, whom they consider the Qa'im Al Muhammad, and they believe that His Holiness will appear one day.
