Joining the Brotherhood
He became acquainted with the Muslim Brotherhood at a young age, and Ahmad Mahmoud Haydar and Abbas al-Sisi exerted significant influence on his affiliation with the group. In May 2005 CE, he was elected by the Governorate Council as head of the Administrative Office of the Muslim Brotherhood in Alexandria. Later that year, he assumed leadership of the Brotherhood's Higher Elections Committee for parliamentary elections in Alexandria, which resulted in the victory of eight representatives out of the group's eleven candidates in the region. From the establishment of the group until the end of his life, he headed its Administrative Development Section. In June 2008 CE, he was elected as a member of the Guidance Bureau of the Muslim Brotherhood.
