== Life ==
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was born in 1964 in [[Kuwait]] to a Pakistani father and mother. He joined the [[Muslim Brotherhood]] in his youth and studied mechanical engineering at North Dakota State University. He has a history of fighting against Soviet Union forces in Afghanistan alongside the country's mujahideen. He met "[[Osama bin Laden]]", the former leader of [[Al-Qaeda]], in Afghanistan for the first time in 1987.

According to The Daily Telegraph, in 1998 or early 1999, bin Laden approved the plan to attack the World Trade Center towers in New York, and Khalid Sheikh was responsible for selecting individuals to carry out these attacks and contributed significantly to the hijacking of airplanes that crashed into the towers on 11 September 2001.

In addition, Khalid is accused of carrying out attacks in [[England]], attempting to explode an airplane on the Paris to Miami route, as well as in Pakistan and Bali. In March 2002, he had ordered a former resident of Baltimore to assassinate "Pervez Musharraf", the former President of [[Pakistan]], by wearing a suicide vest.

Khalid Sheikh has confessed to beheading "Daniel Pearl", an American journalist who was kidnapped in Karachi by Al-Qaeda.

In total, for these terrorist actions, the FBI (US Federal Police) set a $25 million reward for Khalid Sheikh's arrest, and finally managed to detain Khalid in the city of "Rawalpindi" in 2003.
