==Biography==

He graduated from the Baghdad Teachers' College and subsequently from the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad in 1970. Between 1979 and 1981, he worked as a consultant for UNICEF in the fields of epidemiology and environmental health.

In 1991, he founded the Iraqi National Accord Movement, an opposition movement against the then-government of Iraq, which many former Ba'athists joined.
