Bashir Abdulsalam Kabti was born in 1953 AD in the city of Benghazi in Libya. He grew up in a religious family. He received his diploma in 1973 AD and graduated in 1977 AD in accounting from the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of University of Garyounis in Benghazi, and in 1982 AD he received a Master's degree in Professional Accounting from Harvard University in the United States. He joined the Muslim Brotherhood in 1980 AD and in 1989 AD took responsibility for the Brotherhood abroad. The Shura Council of this group, after fifty years of clandestine work, elected him as the successor to Sulaiman Abdulkader at the ninth conference in 2011 AD following the revolution against the Gaddafi regime. He migrated to the United States and took charge of the secretariat of the Claremont Islamic Center, and in 2003 AD established the American Libyan League.

Cooperation with the Muslim Brotherhood
He took great pride in the Muslim Brotherhood group, stating: "The Brotherhood is a name that holds credibility in the Arab world and Libya. In Libya, this group has offered dozens of martyrs, hundreds of prisoners, and exiles to Islam." He warned that in past decades, the Brotherhood suffered from planned campaigns in schools, universities, and media, in addition to the official government discourse, but fortunately, thanks to the youth revolution on February 17, the truth prevailed and falsehood collapsed. He warned the Libyan government against using international forces to maintain security in the country, stating that it has failed to find solutions for many issues and is bankrupt, wishing to convey this matter to the international community.

Activities
He migrated to the United States and resided there for 33 years. His religious life witnessed prominent activity there; he worked within the Muslim community and undertook multiple duties, including: Secretary of the Claremont Islamic Center, USA. He established the American Libyan League, registered it on 29/9/2003 AD, and became its president.

Formation of the Brotherhood in Libya
On Sunday, 20/11/2011, the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya elected him as one of the new officials of the group to succeed the former General Guide of the group, Mr. Sulaiman Abdulkader, who was disqualified from nominating for the elections. This marked the second term of leadership for the group at the conclusion of its ninth conference, which lasted four days in the city of Benghazi. This was held publicly for the first time in Libya after more than 50 years, following the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime, which generally did not allow the Muslim Brotherhood to propagate and operate in Libya and persecuted them during his rule.
