&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Abdullah bin Alwi al-Attas&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1840–1929) was an Arab merchant in the East Indies. He had great enthusiasm for the revival of the nation and composed revolutionary poetry on several social issues. He was generous in charitable affairs, including paying twenty thousand [[India|Indian]] rupees to Haj Ahmad Dahlan to establish the [[Muhammadiyah|Muhammadiyah Association]] to counter the [[Christianity]] that had spread in Jakarta.
